Ford used a metal intake for the 4.6 equipped f150s in the late 90s too but they’re tall and use a different plenum. Also Ford used an aluminum intake for the early 90s 4.6’s in passenger cars as well. The lower looks like a bullitt lower with shorter runners.

Enough with the trivia, it would be nice if Ford had an exact copy of the 4.6 pi intake but metal. Unfortuneatly they did not and all the aftermarket metal intakes will cost lost end torque. Allegedly the typhoon intake had close to factory runner length. Too bad they were Chinese garbage. I almost bought one recently off a guy on corral but he wanted almost 500 bucks lol.

i know i'm late to the discussion but also agree the stock or revised pi plastic intake is the best option cost wise. the TF that is basically a copy of the bullitt intake is $900 or so. I did see that you can find a Bullitt intake in the $500 range on FB Market place.

here's the good pi in take with the metal cross over.

It's not too bad to find a Bullitt intake, but do keep in mind that it uses a different throttle cable (that's no longer made), it uses a Cobra style throttle body (I think the NA Cobra TBs work), and originally used a different alternator (for more clearance). It's not quite a direct swap.

The dorman intakes are actually good quality replacement parts if thats all you need. Dont expect performance tho.
