well i got a cxracing intercooler 31x12x3 a few months because i was my t-trim @ 15-16 psi non-intercooled and put on the cxracing one to try and lower my IATs and i was expecting a small drop in psi, but it went down to only 11 psi. i want to know what intercooler you guys are using or recommend because i thick i should be loosing 1.5 psi max. i also want to run about 20 psi with the t-trim if that would change any recommendation on ICs and might also switch to a ysi head unit in a year.

That's a really big core, have you dyno'd it before and after the intercooler? You may be surprised that you actually picked up some ponies even though you lost some boost. My personal opinion is to run water/meth injection and forget about the intercooler. Not only does it cool the air more efficiently, it allows you to retain all boost as well as bump your octaine rating in the process. No extra plumbing involved, less chances of boost leaks occurring. Just my .02's.

Try a cooler from Procharger.

Also, a cooler is better when the car is moving down the road, not stationary on a dyno. Was there a fan blowing air towards the intercooler when you had it dynoed when the intercooler was installed?

That's a huge drop in power, it should not be that drastic from the addition of a FMIC. First of all, go through the entire system and make sure you aren't loosing boost anywhere. Sometimes leaks can show up and not be very noticeable and rob you of power. If no leaks, and you want to use the same core, you need to up the boost again to at least where you were before. That is a really big core and it is causing you to have more then normal pressure drop. How are your IAT's now? If the intercooler is functioning properly and your IATs have dropped substantially, you should be able to bring the boost back up to 15psi and add some more timing into the tune. That's where you will see your power increase.

There have been mixed reviews on the cxracing intercoolers. When you were doing back to back runs on the dyno, did you feel the end tank on the cold side of the intercooler? If it feels warm to the touch after a run or two, the intercooler is just not a very efficient core. You shouldn't have to wait no more then 3-4 minutes to do back to back runs on the dyno without worrying about heatsoak of the intercooler. Just some things to look at.
