Duration @.050 222 intake and 234 exhaust
Lift is .544 intake and .568 exhaust
degrees of duration 290 intake and 296 exhaust
These numbers are for 1.6 roller rockers. Is anyone running a cam similar to this?
This cam is for a 342 motor with a 3000(+) stall.
The car sees mostly street duty with the occasional track race.
Would a smaller cam be better for street use?
The heads are AFR 185 60cc, motor has a 10.5-1 compression ratio.
I know with a stroker motor your able to run a bigger cam for the street, but is this to big or just right?

I dont see anything wrong with that. I mean, im not a cam expert by any means. I am researching them right now so im gonna go out on a limb here and say if anything thats a bit small? You should be fine though, someone else will let you know though.

Could this cam also be used for forced induction, like a supercharger, or would another cam be better?
Thanks for the input.

I'll have to look it up, but those specs look very close to my old AFM B-31 cam. It was a good cam N/A but the timing on it was more for a blown setup. I'll look them up and see....

Oh yeah... If so I think its a bit small for a 342 stroker. The cam in my 342 is a custom from Camshaft Innovations by Jay Allen. I wont give specs on it, but its safe to say its bigger than that one you posted. I was going to use my B-31 in the stroker and it would have ran ok, but to get more potential for it, I went custom.

Just checked and the specs aren't the same.... not sure what cam that is but it might work fairly decent for a stroker.

My cam is a custom grind through D&D motorsports. It's a strong cam but I'm looking for something a little more streetable. Also I'm going the supercharge route, so I need a cam for this type of set up. The car (94 vert) is running in the mid 7's in the 1/8th. These are great numbers for a full street car. Thanks for the input.

Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier man....I'm glad you just posted this though. You need to ditch that D&D cam. I bought a "Custom Ground" cam from them about 3 years ago. Come to find out, it was an off the shelf erson cam for a CARB'd, all motor 302. NOT a nitrous efi 331. EVERYTHING about that company is shady in my book. I've had absolutely NO smooth transactions with them. Not to mention the fact that they neglected to mention that the camgear and stock distributor gear weren't compatible. The steel dizzy gear ate the cam gear so now its ruined. This was before I knew what I know now...live and learn

NOW, as for your cam posted above. It'd make good power especially with poweradder. The excess lift and duration on the exhaust side favors that more. I'd look more into something suited to your combo.

Honestly, you can't go wrong with anything from compcams

this is newly released

And the Xtreme Energy series has made good power since its release.

If you can support the amount of lift...

slightly milder

Thanks for the input on the cam selection. Just as soon as I can, I'll be putting a new cam in. I'm undecided on which cam, doing a little more research, but it will be different than the one I have now. I'll let you know on which cam and how it turns out. Again thanks for the input.

I'll share with everyone the dyno numbers of the new cam and compare it to the old cam and its dyno numbers. Hopefully, the power band will be lower in the rpm range for my AODE. I'm estimating it will be within a month or two (depends on how busy my job is).

Interesting press release from Comp Cams. Thanks for the link.

In Australia it is very popular to stroke the 351 Clevelands. I know of a 383 stroker with aftermarket heads and a Crane hydraulic roller cam (retro-fit). It has 230* intake, 230* exhaust @ .050" with .578" and .578" lift. CL is 110*. Of course how much duration your cam has is affected by your compression as well.

Anyways, his engine with this cam made 520HP @6000 & 500ft/lb @ 4500rpm on the dyno. These are flywheel figures. It moved his 3,700 lb. Aussie Falcon down the 1/4 in 11.8 sec at 117 MPH on street tires. Here's a video of the car. At the end you take a trip down the track inside the car.

Listen closely, he gets rubber in all 4 gears.
