I just put on my eibach pro springs, upper and lower control arms, bilstein shocks and struts and upr cc just the 3 bolt because I don't get too crazy. I have the upr bump steer kit. Took the car out to have it aligned and told them to do the bump steer kit as well. They said I really didn't need the bump steer kit. And said it would take alot of messing around to get it right because something about the same thread going all the way through. When I talked to upr they said I did need it. Any help? Or is this something that I could put on and have them fix the toe?

i don't have a bump steer kit or cc plates. my steering is just fine but i do believe i need cc plates. i say drive it for a while without the kit and if you notice it darting from side to side when you hit a bumps that should be an indication for the bs kit

Most alignment shops have no idea what you're talking about when you tell them to adjust the bumpsteer on the car.

+1

Is a nice mod if you use different size of tires (front and back) is not a big deal to install it.

Oh, and I have bumpsteer adjustable outer tie rod ends on three of my four Mustangs. There is one shop in the valley here that actually knows WTF they're doing.

remember that setting up Bumpsteer is almost a science. only high end alignment places even have a clue how to set one up properly.

Yep, if you lower the car it alters the angle at the tie rod ends, depending on how much you lower it, it can be quite a bit.

It's not. If you have a bumpsteer gauge and a little time it's no big deal.

Bumpsteer gauge is not expensive, it cost about $115 from MM. maybe less.

Well me living in Iowa we don't have alot of that. I think I will just get an alignment for now, and go from there. I think my mechanic buddy didn't really want to take the time and fuck with it, because he is always busy.

I was talking to a Mustang suspension supplier and he even said the MM gauge is overkill, and that its not THAT critical.

It's not uber-critical in a streetcar. But it IS annoying as hell.

You absolutely do not need a bumpsteer kit unless you go with x2 balljoints...

Your tie rods need to remain parallel with your a arms, and even with springs that lower the car 1.5" they will still be parallel because the spindle (where the tie rod connects) has not moved up or down on the a arm. If you go with Steeda x2 balljoints, they move the spindle up and not the a arm at which point you WILL need to install a bump steer kit.

For the record, this information isn't from what I've read on the internetz, it's from my suspension tuner who builds open track cars and is leading the points race in the North East American Iron Series.

That makes sense with the X2 ball joints, I installed some without the spacers and I'm not running a bumpsteer kit yet. It seems to drive pretty damn good as is but I'd like to get one just so i know its right.

I setup numerous cars every eek for autox and open tracking. It is important depending on the car an the mods to have a bumpsteer kit installed. On my 96 which is only lowered about 1" front and rear i have stupid bad bumpsteer. But i have coilover which will make matters worse. Driving my car when i hit a bump it will just about take the steering wheel outta my hand.
