Is my new 331 combination totally wrong?

I am just about to order a 331 shortblock from fordstrokers.com.

I will be running the following; Vortech V-2 SQ supercharger with a stock pulley, Edelbrock performer heads (not RPM), Steeda 19 cam (1.7 rockers) and Cobra intake, 42lb/lightning MAF.

Is this combination worthwhile? I would like to have somewhere around 450 RWHP because I am running the stock block.

You are completely wrong. Please learn how engines work before you give people advice that will waste their money. His parts are fine for a boosted car unless he plans to make over 600rwhp.

IF you think you need 351 or more cubic inches to make 450rwhp with a blower...then yes, we're telling you that you don't know how engines work. The combo he posted will make 450 like a walk in the park.

well considering im making 386 out of my VERY mild 347... I'd get into details, but I realy don't want this to turn into a "who's dick is bigger" contest

Dyno sheets, pics, combo, and video. Otherwise, it's all just internet claims.

Tell what good would a spyder intake that is meant for high reving drag applications and 185 heads that are for a mild street application doing in the same combo. It probably took you 10k to make your 386 hp. Since your combo is probably as shitty as the one you suggested.

Lets not forget, a blower will force air past even mild heads. May not be optimum flow but it will get the job done. Same thing with the intake. And the best way to look at it is if you get bored with the current setup, you can always swap heads and intake and step up the power even more. I get a little irritated when people think a combo that isnt perfectly matched to a T somehow wont make any power at all. I admit AFR 185s are really good flowing heads, but they arent a prerequisite to making power. Im interested in seeing what the combo will put down.

Is that all you are good for? :dunno: You do realize just because your shit is abnormally slow doesn't mean everyone in the world is slow also. I don't find a problem believing his combo probably runs faster than yours. :dunno: :dunno:

Oh and I sanded and painted the sump aluminum color. :thumb: Thanks for bringing that to my attention. Looks 10 times better now! I will take pictures soon when I get the car back from the dyno.

With him wanting 450hp i am willing to bet he just wants a nice streetable app that will open up a can of sn95 pwnsauce if a bigheaded 03 owner pulls up next to him at a stoplight.

Im curious to know what he wants out of it, not everyone wants a drag strip demon... just my .02 though... :dunno:

Thanks for all the information. As far as what I want out of the car, ideally I would like a totally dependable 11 second car. Before I messed up one of the pistons on my stock 302 I was running 12.70/114 mph with terrible 60fts. That was with no tune except for a A9L conversion and 24lb injectors and FMU.

I am stationed in Guam and getting a tune is impossible, except for mail order. I need a dependable car because I will be taking it to Korea when I change bases. I have read that the stock block is only good to 500 hp, so I thought I will just keep my combination so it will limit the hp to a dependable level. I will also be getting a mail order tune and 42lb injectors .

If anyone is curious about the Steeda 19 cam and Edelbrock performer heads, I picked up 6 mph in the 1/4 mile when I swapped them out from the stock Cobra heads and cam.
