Well I have found a 98 svt cobra motor. It only has 60k on it and the guy wants it for 800 but I'm sure I can talk him down. Is it worth it? This is probably my best oppurtunity to do a swap! Keep the six or do the swap?

buy the motor and put in the garage while you gather the rest of the stuff you need.
swaps may be expensive but atleast for me its cheaper than buying a new car which why a swap is they way i'm going

Why do you want a 4v?

+1 everything is more expencive, and you can pull crazy numbers from 2vs....

but if this teskid is good, and doesnt need to be built, id still buy it, stock 2vs go for that much any ways...

Always heard they were better than a 2v. Its local and I found it on craigslist. Spur of the moment i guess.

Depending on the situation they may or may not be better. You need to look at facts not opinion prior to you investing in what you heard on the internet. Read up, look at what you want to do with the car for the future and then plan from there. If you buy the 4v motor, that's fine you can put a 2v setup on the block with minor adjustments, but make sure you check all your options out before you go and spend money. The 800 for the motor, or you could do 300 for a mark viii block w/heads and then swap on a cobra manifold and a few other parts for under that.

Just do your homework.

800 is a good price for a 4v. however, from v6 to 4v would need ALOT of work. k-member, wiring and supporting mods. not including exhaust and probably driveline. swapping to an 8.8. rebuilding that 4v is expensive on depending application. im not a 4v guy but i know in comparison for my ungodly expensive 2v and with reliable resources its double the price for mods on a 4v(engine wise). im one of the guys who "well since this is out and used i might as well ..... "

$800 for a complete running cobra 4v motor is not bad at all! but I would be weary of anything on Craigslist! motor could be shot! or you could be buying a Mark engine with a cobra intake! I would be careful!

Thanks guys keep it coming. Im open to anything.

my advise is to keep your v6 as a daily and buy what you really want!

I paid $4000 for my 95 Gt
installed Cobra Front brakes
Cobra Rear Brakes
Cobra Headlights
Cobra Front and Rear Bumpers
Cobra wheel's

and was saving up for a 4v swap!!!

All the money I spent I almost spent more! :dontknow: and the car was never going to be a COBRA

I sold all the Cobra accesories sold the Gt and bought a real Cobra! paid $6000 for it and there are cheaper ones out there! I say if you want a 4v Cobra save the headache and buy one they are not that expensive!

NOW! dont get me wrong I love the idea of doing work on a car and swapping powerplant's! if you were doing a Termi swap I could see the effort but a basic 4v in a v6 is not worth it i.m.o!!!

why would you need a K-member?

he would need to switch from a Vacuum brake booster to the V8's Hydra-boost.

The most of the front suspension is different from v6 to v8 cars...

I bet some have gotten away with modifying the motor mount location on the v6 kmember, but I bet it would be easier to just swap in the gt kmember.

that makes no sense, all 96-04 K-members are the same.
