I just got done installing a set of Pro5.0 3.90 gears. They have a 500 mile break in period but so far looks like they perform alot like a set of 4.10s. Ill post more info when I get the car broke in (Gear/RMP/MPH). Does anyone know what speedometer drive gear I should run?

Congratulations on your new gears.
The 3.90's are very close to the 4.10's I agree.
Why not use a Speedcal?

If you are using a T45 transmission in your mustang you will be able to use a Speedcal.
I recommend the Dallas Mustang Speedcal to correct your speedometer.

Congrats on the new gears, one of the best mods you can do. Those were some of the longest 500 miles of my life... I just wanted to hammer it at every light.

I never understood how gears could have a break in period...
Break in period is the cruise out of the parking lot of the place that installed them. Soon as the car is off the lot, it's go time.

exactly. i don't believe in breaking in gears, like they need to wear in a pattern or something. come on...

Right but it's usually good to take it easy for a bit to make sure everything is together right. You know listen for sounds, jerkiness stuff like that. When you replace the differential I'd take it easy for a while though.

break in period is 100% only for the install shops labor that did the work. It's peace of mind and someone to blame it something goes wrong.

well yeah you listen for noises and make sure everything is good, but if the gears are installed wrong driving easy on them for 500 miles is not going to correct anything and make it okay to drive them hard. if they're installed correctly you're good to go.

Right right. =D

That's why I only said for a little bit. Maybe 5 miles or so. Do a few stops, sharp turns, light acceleration just to listen for noise. If everything sounds and feels good find a good spot, pull over, and melt the shat out of them. >=D

That's what I did with my Nova anyways.
