PI gaskets, Toyota FIPG black silicon (any RTV will work, but I perfer this, as its oil and coolant resistant and is very great silicon) you will need a 3/8 x 18 tap and I put in a 180 degree stat. You need a new stat gasket too. U need the heater tube that goes under the intake as well as a new nipple too. Let me see if I can dig up the part numbers.

can't reuse the heater tube and nipple?

the return tube, no, you have to get a PI one. for the nipple, your car is a 98, right? about 90% of all 98's already have the PI nipple. the best way ive been able to narrow it down is if your car has the holes for the strut tower brace (very early 98 models) then you have the NPI nipple and will need the PI nipple. if your car doesnt have the holes for the strut tower, then you already have the PI nipple and dont have to take replace it (which means you dont have to take off the water pump either)

water pump comes out in about two seconds. just tap on it from behind w/ a soft-faced hammer or block of wood. don't drop it. you could probably get away w/ reusing the old t-stat gasket...it's an o-ring and seems durable. but if you can source a new one, why not, it's like $2.50. pay close attention to the order of assembly for the t-stat/gasket. t-stat has to go in a certain way as does gasket or you will have big probs. you will enjoy. it will be like a whole new car. not as impressive as gears though! good luck!

im willing to bet you dont have to take off the water pump. most 98's ive heard of already have the PI nipple, so you should be good.

here is a list i made for myself...even w/ this you will have to go to store like 5 more times, cuz...isn't that the way it always goes...?
PI INTAKE SWAP PARTS LIST

XW7Z-9439-AA intake gskt $6.08 ea
F8AZ-10153-EA alt brkt $10.53
XR3Z-18B402-AA coolant tube $19.67
F1VY-8255-A thermstat housing o-ring $3.83
F1VY-8507-A water pump o-ring $2.43
XR3Z-9L437-BA upper plenum o-ring $3.05
F75Z-8555-AA coolant tube nipple $5.73

added:
I wanna say that i ended up getting the wrong type of intake (manifold) gaskets based on this part#. I can't remember and the parts counter dudes were IDIOTS...i had to navigate them through their parts program and tell them what the internals of my engine looked like cuz between them and their bs computer program, we were all fucked. it all worked out in the end. make sure you get the pi stuff! they will try to sell you the npi stuff, based on what year car you have told them you have. they forget you are swapping to the newer pi stuff. be aware. don't be like me and have to go back 3 times (wrong parts came in, backordered shit, wrong part in the right part number's bag, etc. take your time and do it right the first time.

edit:: i just want to be "fast"

i know that is a broad goal among all of us on this forum. but fast in my opinion is destroying new age mustangs. thats the goal i want. i know thats not going to be achievable with what i have now. thats why i'm starting to dip into the pi swap. i just got a raise at my dead end job so i should be able to start playing with my pony some more. maybe get it a new pair of shoes...

i love my car though, the color and the sound are almost one in a kind. i can't go a day without driving it. and most of the time nailing triple digits on the speedo. just wish i was faster..

when you go to the ford dealer, ask for all parts for a 2002 mustang GT.

you will need:

PI intake manifold w/aluminum crossover. 99-04, doesnt matter what year, or the non aluminum crossover, 99/00
PI intake manifold gaskets, 99-02
PI water pump nipple (only if you need it), 99-04
PI heater return tube, 99-04
PI Alternator bracket, 99-04
t-stat housing gasket, 99/00 (or 01-04 if you have the aluminum crossover, not sure if they are different)
Water pump gasket (if you had to remove it)
black RTV
razor blade (to cut off the tabs on the manifold gaskets, and to clean the heads)

and thats all i can remember. dont have the part numbers to them tho.
