please anyone with some real knowledge on this. i'm confused as to why every once and a while i get white smoke. it's not blue and also it doesnt smell of coolant. it did this a couple times during the summer as well. it doesnt leave a trail behind me as i'm driving but i can see it when i sit at a light idleing, also sometimes when i first rev it up pretty high...it will kinda be thick for a sec then it stops smoking, lol.

this doesnt happen all the time. usually when i first start it and when i first rev it. also sometimes when i'm stuck at a light. it is def white...not blue or grey. also it is not a coolant smell, more of an oil or fuel smell.

thanks fellas :)

Probably just the condensation in the exhaust heating up. Happens during cold weather or humid cool days.

Completely normal tony. I live in Indiana so our weather is the same. Both my mustangs do the same thing. It's just condensation. No worries.

i know when it's cold out you will see smoke...well steam or whatever but when it's hot i can still see some lightweight smoke? hopefully it is normal and i dont need new headgaskets or some kinda leaky intake or valve, lol. that would SUUK!

and scott i already checked the ball joints. lmao, they are good :)

Well if it was a leaky valve seal or something serious. It would be constant. Not really an off and on occasional thing. My vote like above is humidity/condensation.

But.... you could just go ahead and do a 4v swap to be safe.... just saying.

I would guess valve seals. They may not be serious yet, but starting to. Typicaly when they start going bad they will leak a little oil on top of the valves after you shut it down, then when you start it, you'll get a little smoke. You may see it once in a while while driving, usualy while decelerating when your intake is at max vacumm.

You can have someone do a compression/leakdown test to be 100% sure. If the compression and leakdown pass with flying colors, it's for sure valve seals. Otherwise it's rings.

If it was bad valve seals it would be blue smoke and smell like burnt oil. He has white smoke that smells neither like oil or coolant.

my coolant hasnt been touched since i've owned the car and is full. i never smell coolant. i've had to deal with head gaskets before and i know the smell of burnt coolant. so with the smoke def being white and random...i have no clue, lol.

Pi heads swap?

Waste of time/effort if going stock. errr... even if doing some slight mods like a cam. 4v swap > pi/cammed pi.

But seriously though you don't have to worry about your smoke.
