koeo resulted in a 118 - ECT Sensor Circuit Above Maximum Voltage of 4.6 volts (O), ECT sensor circuit has intermittently failed above the maximum of 4.6 volts (M)

koer 998 hard fault pressent.

i've noticed that when i pass 4k rpms lately my alternator will start to overcharge my system. it just spikes out the gauge. my guess is that it could have damaged the ect.

but i have no idea what the hard fault pressent is.

anyone willing to throw some insite into this.

do have a multi meter you can test the alt yourself?
the alt should put out about 14.5 at all rpm's. It might raise some as you raise the throttle bet should settle back to 14.5
If no then take it and get it tested. over voltage is as bad as under voltage.
after you cleared the codes did any come back?

one of my friends had problems with the alternator and power steering pump couple of months after he got gears. I really question what he told me but who knows....
