Looking at a set of 295-350-17 XS's.

Need a Tire thats going to last and be good in Wet/Dry conditions as i drive this car to and from work and justs about everywhere i have to go. But i want somthing to hook up half decent at the track.

Any one have an idea of how long they would last with a 180 Tread wear rating and 8/32nds with few trips to the track?

Or should i just put up a few extra bucks ($50) and get a set of 285-40-17s at 26" tall there roughly a half inch taller then the 295s and more to my liking but there also just a high performance summer tire with a 420 Tread rating and 10/32nds and just deal with a longer lasting tire thats not as good for track trips...

Buying tires like tomorrow so i need to make up my mind. Help me out?

With a few trips to the track, expect about 10k miles out of them, possibly less. If I were you, I'd score a separate set of wheels, get an even stickier tire on that (NT-01), and keep that for track weekends. That's what I do.

10-15k depending... I actually just put that exact tire on all 4 corners... 4 295/35/17's for 550 shipped to my door..

R- It could be he wants a street tire to stay in a certain class for racing (if hes auto-xing).. Thats why I bought them..

Otherwise yea ide buy a cheap pair of secondary rims to put some R compounds on if I could.. I mean I do have 3 sets of rims(17s) now lol

Was just a cheaper option at the time, as I could not pass up the deal i got on the XS's ^^

Yea a 295-350-17 is a huge bitch. I think ill just stick to the 295-35s lol

I only take it down the strip mabye 4 times a year if im lucky as of right now with it being the daily, Never auto cross it or anything like that.

Im looking at the 285-40-17 Kumho's with a 420 Wear Rating there a all season but nice at 26" tall. I might just have to deal with a all season tire and pick up a set of 15s for the track nights...

Just bought (2) 285-40-17 Continental ExtremeContact DW's

Best tire out there for the price so it seems for somthing that will last more then 10-15,xxx miles, my fathers running them on his S197 and they seem to hook up half decent even on his mild 13 sec car so i figured ill give them a try.

At $413 Shipped there a way better option over the 315 Sumi's that have flooded the Mustang world...

First time I have ever heard anything bad with them out of all the forum stuff that I read. Though my dad runs some Kumhos on his Volvo and we both hate them. He only liked it because the tire cost him $60 brand new.
