Leaking Fuel .....Please help !

Hey guys....and gals...! My story...yesterday I went to the gas station, filled up the Cobra and started to smell gas....alot of it ! So I looked down and saw that gas was spilling out all over the place ( this is after I put the gas pump back) I leaned down to see where it was coming from, and it was dripping from the filler neck where it goes through the rubber gasket hole into the tank. Has anyone ever ran into this issue ? I called several different parts stores and they all told me they dont sell anything like that, and 2 contact Ford well Ford (parts dept.) is closed for the evening so I thought I'd check with my fellow Stang Brotheren 2 see what I can and should do ?

The fuel tank grommet needs to be replaced. It normally goes out after a fuel pump swap but they do get old and need replacing every now and then. It sucks to remove a tank when it's nice and full. Be care full and have fun lol.

yup that also happend to me and i got my new seal from late model also. It was a pain putting it in but had to be done. Good luck man.

Yes that's it......this does suck cause I just put in a new pump in on Sat ! Hey do i have to drop the tank again to put the gromet on, or can I remove just the filler neck and associated hardware ?

yea i did drop the tank on the filler neck side just enough to get the grommet in.

Yup, you will have to drop the tank, if you know someone with a motorcycle jack, try to borrow it. It will help to balance it, especially if you have a full tank. Good Luck and have fun!
