I love people that hate on KBs that have never actually owned one. I always enjoy reading a good supercharger pissing match.

I work for Procharger, sooo....I say a nice f1-d set-up, and call it done. If it's stock a d1-sc will get you done, but I'm biased lol

Like a breakdown of all the headunits, cfm, max boost, rpm, etc? I think I can do that.

that'd be awesome!

and yes. i, for example, have no idea what the difference between a f1-d set up is and a d1-sc is....

thats may be part of the reason i went PD. I can understand "1L, 2.4L, etc."

That definitely goes both ways. Thats why its almost impossible to actually have unbiased opinions, because guys buy their blower and just rave about why its better than the other type.

I won't disagree but I also think it depends on who you're talking to and how thickheaded they are. I don't think I've ever said KBs are flat out better than other blowers unless maybe I was joking around. If speed is your #1 priority then KB is probably not your best option, but it does have it's place and is good in it's own right.

I just don't like when people start saying how they make too much tq down low, how they get heat soaked and become useless, etc. when the only experience they have had with them is reading the same thing that someone else posted on a forum some time prior.

You don't have to own one to knows its pros & cons. I probably spent 8 months researching blowers before making my decision. If I had the money, I would have gone turbo. I do a lot of racing at the strip and 90% of the information I came across clearly had centri's as the favorites there. PD's are strong from the get-go but don't back the punch that centri's/turbos have up top. Gear a centri/turbo appropriately and you've got the best of both worlds.

For example, I have an auto w/ a 3000 stall and 4.10's. I brake boost to 3-3200 at the line (already making boost) and the 4.10's keep me from ever falling below the 3000rwpm mark the entire way. In others words, Im in boost the ENTIRE run. That combined with the no heat-soak problem and top end pull that centri's/turbos have means I outrun PD cars with as much as 100rwhp more than me.

However, if you are SOLELY interested in stoplight-to-stoplight romps, then a PD is what you want. I personally find those kinds of runs boring. The strip/roll racing is what I enjoy.

Couldnt agree with ya more. Ive been in two KB cars and had a blast in them. Just depends what youre looking for. Don't know if you can really go wrong with a boosted V8 that looks as good as sn95's do honestly.

ok stumbled on here and i can say i have owned both styles of blowers on two mustangs and my thoughts

KB: The company is great, the product top notch, it screams when your beating on it, it delivers the power as soon as i got off idle. One of the best feelings ever.

Procharger: Good product over all, more crap to install. noticed it had a little lag to it like a turbo but it was a good thing. At 3000 rpm and up it felt like it was going to rip itself in half (this is a good thing) and it had this awesome idle whine / tinging noise. use to tell people i had a bad pulley bearing. lol
my tuner said he hated tuning it because of the maf in the intercooler placement so after moving it everything was dandy.

either way your winning man if you like it f what we think right? most people talk down on things because we cant afford them (thats why i hate audi s5's)or we paid to much for the other and are upset.
do either one and you have a big grin everytime you hit the pedal.

but seriously why not a turbo kit its the best option :) gasoline added:D
it uses waste to make power?

running the cobra with the kb at the track was fun for a pass or two then it was ice, more ice, 20 minute break etc. the procharger just took alot more abuse before it was "soaked" and needed a break.

this is true except then you may have to live with lower gears on the street which I really don't like. Obviously for a drag setup it's ideal but I don't think anyone thinks the KB is the best drag race option. Something like auto-x for example is a different story.

Yes you can research a lot of things online but that won't always make you an expert. the reason it helps to own one is because a lot of times people blow things out of proportion or make things appear or seem worse then they really are.

PD blowers have a more or less flat torque curve and centri are linear so I dont really understand your "usable power" argument. Also it doesnt really matter which one makes more power because he is going to blow up his stock bottom end way before he reaches the limit of a kb or vortech.

Besides the whine a kb makes is reason enough to buy one. And to set things straight turbo>PD>centri:grin:

Forged internals  there a must when talking boost

Wow y'all are awesome lots of great info. My internet has been out for a little bit and it is awesome to come back to all this info! thanks everyone. The engine will have a fully forged rotating assembly also the car will be my DD but a weekend warrior at the drag strip. Some of my buddies want to start getting into road racing. which kinda puts me into a little bit of everything. What exactly would be the downside of using a centri while road racing?
