What do you guys think?

best chop i could do right now. I want to shave the factory vents and fab in a 99+ hood scoop. my plan would not be to simply bolt it on. I want to make it look like it belongs... I'll post pics of what i mean later.

Jeremy

i've seen it in real life and it's FUGLY. Totally out of place. The chop looks good though.

same here.
It doesn't look as good as you might think. IMO Also because of aerodynamics it had a flutter at hwy speeds.
props on the chop.

you need that scoop "valley" in the hood that the new edges have, for a scoop to look right. just slapping on a hood scoop on a car with a flat hood, 1, looks really awkward, and 2, it looks completely fake.

If your body man can match the chop perfect aesthetically and functionally, that ish would be nasty as hell. Looks great in the pic. But it has to function like factory to be worth the trouble. Times like this you wish you had Chip Foose on speed dial.

Yes Chip would be a nice addition to my phonebook. lol.

Everyone esle:
What I'm wanting to do is mimick the 99+ hood. all the pics you guys have posted are a 99+ hood scoop just stuck on the hood. I agree it doesn't look good.

What I am wanting to do is cut the hood the width of the hood scoop, or slightly smaller. then drop the portion of the hood under the scoop about an inch or two. After that i would fiberglass the now open triangular shaped voids left. SEE PHOTO.

Also i will be making the scoop functional.

Do you have access to another hood from a j/y just in case the worst happens.
Don't forget about the triangle pieces and the back of the drop down that have to be made as viewed from the side view.
And check for clearance under the hood to the strut tower brace.
good luck to ya

at that point, it might just be easier to cut and add portions off of a new edge hood until it lines up correctly.

thought about that too. I have a buddy that is experienced with fiberglass. thought about buying a used new edge hood and cutting the center section out and fiberglassing it in. lol.

why would you use ANY of the sn95 hood at that point? aside from tweaking the fenders, its the area around the headlights where the new edge hood doesnt line up on our cars. you could probably just as easily (if not easier) mount the new edge hood, and form the front of the hood to line up with our cars.

plus if you do it that way, then you dont even have to worry about the sn95 hood vents.

I dont know how hard it would be to refit the headlight area on a new edge hood?

the way i have outlined i think would be the easiest and lesst destructive way.

I also wanna shave my door handles, antenna, and i have another one i'm gonna keep secret :)

i dont have any pics but i have seen in my area people take the 99+ hood bolt it on and just shave the hood on the corners to work with the front end shape of the sn95s. i have seen about 4 that just do that and it looks a hell of a lot better and far easier then cutting, molding, and so on.
