Has anything like this happenned to anyone? It seems my clutch or clutch cable is taking a dump. I believe its just the clutch cable and the longtubes might be melting it.

I am assumming this because the previous owner told me that they changed the clutch cable 3 times in a one and a half year period.

Thanks!

I've run the long tubes with out any problems. Mine is not a daily driver. Do you see melting??? Does the cable break??? Does it just get hard??

I am aout to check what's going on. I was just told that it could be a possibility of why clutch cables don't last in my car(btw this was an issue from before i bought the car)

What longtubes do you have?
maybe the cable is routed the wrong way.

I have MAC 15/8's and no problems.

this is a possibility
some people have had problems with aftermarket cables not lasting. they say oem cable is the best.
You can use the oem cable with the aftermarket quadrant and fwa.

if its an adjustable cable, they are just junk. i was melting mine and went through about the same thing. got a MM cable and haven't had any problems in over 2 years now with it. make sure you route it around and away as much as possible from the exhuast. I used some heat wrap i had lying around to insulate it more.

Those things that you guys mentioned are most likely what i'm gonna do when I find if the longtubes are the problem.

(check route, and maybe re-route, and heat wrap)

Thanks for the input everyone! :eek:ccasion14:

I actually put a reflective heat shield over my clutch cable because I was having a little trouble with heat from my mid-lengths on my 422. It seemed to help with the longevity of clutch cables.
