Ok i have an autometer mechanical gauge on the car..... that reads 10psi and it doesn't go up when i rev it..... (the pressure). the car before it was tore down had 50 psi when cold and it would drop to 20-25 when hot and it would normally go up when revved. Now after 2 months and i installed the new heads i have near 0 oil pressure. how the hell could this be?????? it was just fine before.... can anyone help me???????maybe a faulty autometer gauge...??

I would pull the oil pressure sending unit out and the oil pressure feed line out. Then aquire a diagnostic oil pressure gauge - Auto Zone might have one.

Screw the gauge into the oil pressure port and start the car. Also, try and hook up the stock one and see if it works.

If you honestly had 10psi, you would hear TONS of noise. You would have lost a lifter or 2 and possibly spun a rod bearing...

did you use the sender that came with the gauge?

If so did you remote mount it? I know with mine you have to remote mount the sending unit because it won't pysically fit in place of the oem sender.

Also check your wiring for the gauge itself, make sure you have a solid ground.

The gauge i have is an autometer mechanical gauge with the plastic tubing. i'm not running the stock sendiing unit, only the mechanical gauge. Anyways I took off the valve covers and there was brand new oil on top of the rockers and everything and the motor sounds great too..... it's just weird that a 50psi motor runs at 5 all of a sudden.....

you may have kinked the capilary tube for the guage when you swapped heads or may have gotten air in the line

does your pressure goes down when your foot isnt not on the Accelerator pedal,if so it can be your oil pump for sure ( IS A PITA ) to change it.

Try a new gauge first. If its still low, pull it apart.

When my last motor ate every all the bearings out of itself, it made absolutely NO noise, burnt NO oil...just lost pressure. 3lbs of pressure at idle but it would still hold 10lbs of pressure for every 1,000rpm...or whatever the rule of thumb is. I pulled it apart out of curiousity, and sure as shit. ALL the main bearings were wiped out. Like I said, it made no strange noises at all. SO just b/c its quiet, don't mean it isn't hurt.

this is the one thing that sucks about fords.. it has to have a great deal of oil pressure.. but a chevrolet man.. the old small blocks can run off of 5 and go racing, and be fine at the end of the night lol.. But I agree, check the gauge line, if its alright then i suggest pulling it apart.

No, when i crank the car the gauge jumps up to 10 psi but it stops all of a sudden as if it had a stop on the needle. I'll try swapping gauges and lines, I mean i just don't get a good running motor that was just dissasembled now doesn't have pressure..... I'll check the gauge for sure tomorrow.....thanks...
