Okay, so first off I know the Auto's are slow to begin with, then to add, it's a convertible. But my 94 seems to be really sluggish, and is taking too much effort to make it to 60mph! I have replaced the cap, rotor, and will be doing the plugs and wire's tomorrow. I checked the TB, and the MAF.... they were clean, and the plugs that are in it look good, and show normal wear, nothing that shows problems..... The only issue I have right now is the EGR code which only comes on when cruising.

The car is stock, with the only mods being a Flowmaster Catback system. The mileage is right about 160K, and the cats are the originals. I think they may be the culprits, but how do I check to make sure. Fixed all my vacum issue's and replaced 75% of vac line's. It takes me almost 10 seconds to get to 60mph (maybe a little quicker). I did see a catted X-pipe in the classifieds section. Thinking about picking it up, if my cats are the problem. It would work well with my future build plans.

Your input is appreciated!

ya i have a completely stock 94 auto gt vert, its not all that fast, but its not 10 second 0-60 slow. my haynes manual says it could be the egr system not funcioning properly, so if it does come on when cruising, any chance that could be it?

and just to give all the possible problems in the manual
1.incorrect ignition timing
2.excessive play in distributor shaft, faulty distributor cap, wires, etc.
3.faulty or incorrectly gapped spark plugs
4.air filter dirty
5.faulty ignition coils
6.brakes binding
7.automatic transmission fluid level incorrect
8.fuel filter clogged and/or impurities in the fuel system
9.egr system not functioning properly
10.use of sub-standard fuel
11.low or uneven cylinder compression pressures
12.vacuum leak at intake manifold or vacuum hoses
13.dirty or clogged fuel injectors
14.fuel injection or engine control system malfunction
15.restricted exhaust system

Thanks for all the input! I had to replace the left front wheel bearing on my Yukon, so since I was dirty, I decided to dig into the Mustang. I replaced the plugs, wire's and fuel filter. After all that, the EGR was still coming on while cruising, and power still seemed quite low! So I checked all my vacum line's again... apparently the line's I used to replace the dry rotted hard line's were not snug enough at one end. I replaced them with smaller line's. Now the CEL doesn't come on when cruising, and my trans shifts correctly, and the car had better power. 0-60 is somewhere in the 6-7 range. It also hits second firmly under WOT.. I am liking it a lot better!!! Also put on two new front tire's and replaced a leaking cracked rim. (found a rim on craigslist for $10, and it was only 5 mile's from my house)

I am going to get my State inspection done tomorrow.
