I just picked up a set of MAC 1 5/8 LT, Matching H-Pipe, and American Thunder catback. From what I've been told these will cause ilde issues due to the computer not liking them (LT's), is there any merit to this?

Any other tips or tricks with the install would be appreiciated.

Thanks, Chris

You should get your Mac LT's professionally ceramic coated.
If you don't they will just rust on you.I hope you got the coated H pipe.
All Macs exhaust products are notorious for rusting! :nonono: :wall:

I've had many Mac products and have yet to have any issues with them. The longest I ran a system front to back was 3 years and other than normal wear and tear they were in great shape. I guess it's hit or miss, elements, ect... car won't see much bad weather driving, not to worried.

When I had my mustang I once had the Mac catback and H pipe within one
year my Mac mufflers had a hole rusted right through one of the mufflers
and the other had bad surface rust on it.Needless to say my Mac H pipe
had rust all over it.I ended having to replace just about my whole exhaust
system thanks Mac for your horrible quality products! :nonono: :wall:
I will never buy Mac products again.

I paid $200 for the entire kit front to back, they'll last at least a year and I'll be satisfied.

Back on topic, do long tubes on these cars cause surging due to the computer not working properly with them?

Yea, it was a steal. I also traded a computer to the guy but I work in IT so they come and go like running water. They'll rust though as soon as I put them on... :eek:uttahere:

I've never heard of LTs causing idle issues but I don't have any experience. Usually the only thing causing idle problems are cams...

Either way over time Mac LT's look like poop anyway.
I don't know why you guys don't purchase good quality LT's like Kooks or Bassani.

The longtubes could cause your O2s to cool off because they are relocated further away from the exhaust ports. Also, the PCM samples the exhaust gasses at a certain time interval after combustion, by relocating the O2s further away, you also throw off this calculation.

These two factors combined are where the idle issues likely come from, but in my experience tuning, I have not seen a set be the cause of idling issues. The exhaust pulse delay can be fixed when you get a custom tune.

Wes

P.S. Mac 1 3/4 JetHot coated longtubes on my car - I had 1 5/8 which did pick up some surface rust, but nothing out of the ordinary. I have been pleased with Mac products... like anything, you get what you pay for, no?

I have had a set of MAC Longtube headers and Prochamber on my car for over 5 years...no problem at all. For sure I have never had a idol/computer problem.

MAC LT'S CC here and no problem and they look good too. Yes your check engine light may come on every once in a while, just for the fact that the O2 sensors are set way back.Other than that no problem.

hmmm i have my cel come on every 300 miles for about 5 minutes then it goes off. idk if it's cause no cat's or maybe the o2 sensors are farther back like you said.

in the 4 months I've had the exhaust on I had it idle weirdly twice, both times it was on my way home from work and idle went from about 500-900 for maybe 10seconds at the most. other than that i always have a rock steady idle

As i stated above, im not really worry about the rough idle or the cell.

its just normal stuff.Im just glad i didnt need a tune after the install.
