Major Problem - Need Advice

So I just completed the PI Swap and got the car back together recently.
Unfortunately, something inside the motor is badly broken.
Drives fine but makes a terrible knocking noise.
Unsure of top or bottom end or if is was related to the swap or not.

I've got quite a fair amount of money in the car - exterior, interior, fuel system, suspension and exhaust is pretty much complete to my needs/wants.
My only problem with the car is everything underneath is rusted pretty bad (ohio winters prior to me owning the car), but no major issues have arisen from it thus far.

Need advice on where to go from here.

Initial thoughts are sell the car as is and start over with a clean Cobra.
Also, considered buying a shortblock over the winter and swapping out first thing next spring.

Any and all suggestions welcome.
Thanks

Well it wouldn't sell for very much considering the engines knocking and it has severe rust... I'd part itbout and start fresh with a clean cobra or new edge.

When you say rust underneath are you talking about like holes in the floor pans or like the rear end is rusty, bolts are rusty, etc?

Youve already done the hard part by replacing the pans. You have a lot of work in the car, I wouldnt let some rusty bolts and rear end make you part the car out. Any Ohio Mustang is going to have that unless its been garage kept.
