mechanical or electrical water temp gauge?

as the subject reads, which is better, a mechanical or an electrical temperature gauge?

ok, cool. i just installed one to get better readings. the temp goes all the way up to about 225-230 then the fan kicks in and goes down to about 210. is that normal? eventually it will go down to 195 or so. on the highway, 180 to 190.

perfectly normal...you can have the fan kick on earlier to take advantage of having a lower temp thermostat if you want to as well.
