Whichever piece extends the shifter handle far enough back for me to reach it with out leaning out of my seat. Comfort should be number one priority, then everything else. I bought a Pro5.0 shifter, and the stock handle is designed for a Fox, so it was pusitioned way too far forward. 3rd and 5th required leaning out of the seat, and on every 1st I'd hit my thumb on the shifter bezel/dash. It sucked, and it's not like I'm some 6 foot 8 driver who likes to gangster lean. I drive upright and I'm 5 foot 10. I ended up getting triax handle for the Pro5.0 base, and that fixed the problem for me.

I agree ReplicaR, comfort should be pretty important. Anyone notice that they have to reach out of the seat, or close to it, with the Tri-Ax or MGW? I would imagine the Tri-Ax would be fine (not having to reach) if the handle on the Pro 5.0 base helped out ReplicaR. Me and him are about the same height, so that would put me off to the Pro 5.0, but then again its really only a toss up between the Tri-Ax and the MGW for me.

I'm 6'4" with long legs. I have the seat all the way back and in the full upright position, and with the Pro 5.0 I definitely have to reach farther, but I don't have to lean forward.

I'm 5'11(and a half lol) and I have a tri-ax in mine and I LOVE that shifter. I have the seat forward so that my knees are about an inch from the dash and the seat is leaned back a little. It's comfortable for me, I never bump my knees on the dash or anything and I can still lean back a little while I drive. I have no issues reaching the shifter.

Heres the deal with shifters. The stock one sucks SO BAD that anything you get will be a hell of a lot better. All 3 are great shifters. Get the one you can get the cheapest. .....

That's probably the best answer. MGW guy here for about two years now, but I think I could have fabbed an upgraded the stock shifter out of an old broom handle.

Haha, sounds like someone is trying to prove they are taller than they are? :rollinglaugh:

I would LOVE to see that

Alright, handles aside. Just the shifter base/ shortness of the throws, which would be best. Maybe a combo like some people are using with the Tri-Ax base and a MGW handle is better than the MGW or the Tri-Ax? Thoughts...?

Out of all I've tried and cars I've driven, I say MGW. Great shifter, quietest of the aftermarket shifters and it's really smooth. Also has the advantage of rotating the handle to allow you to get it where you need it to be. I have mine rotated very far to the left side. I can even make the 4th to 5th shift without leaning a bit.

I had a TriAxx in my T-5 and i liked it alot, solid, nice, and never had an issue. Like alot of guys are sayin, it felt notchy i guess is the right word, i am using the stock shifter in my T-56 right now and ill probably go with the pro 5.0. My buddy has one on his 01 and that shit is SO smooth, and it feels shorter too. Either way you wont go wrong with any of the three shifters.

The MGW is by far the smoothest. I have a Tri-ax. I really like it. I've never liked the 5.0 on the t5 or t45.

No shifter is "notchy." By design, they will all have relatively fluid movements.

Now how smooth a transmission is can be a whole different story.

FWIW, I think they're all about the same, and primarily personaly preference. I have B&M Rippers and Pro 5.0s on my cars.

The first thing I replaced in my car was the shifter. I thought it was a stock one so I ordered an MGW. When it got here I pulled up the boot and found out that the "stock" shifter that was there was actually a Pro 5.0. I was like HA! The MGW is awesome. It is well built, the shift stops are fully adjustable and so is the angle for the throw. :thumb:

wow the handle or the actual shifter?

the arm. from shifter plate to shift knob. snapped it right in half, put my hand through my radio, and needed 6 stitches.

Steeda wanted to send me a new one... I just asked for my money back... after showing them pictures of my hand, they were more than happy to oblige!

I'm sure that was a fun day. I think I would be getting more out of Steeda than my money back if their part broke and caused me to get stiches, and this is not the first time I have heard of the Tri-Ax snapping. I think i'm gonna end up going with MGW, they may cost a little more but it sounds like you get your money's worth with them.
