You should buy my 01 Cobra motor.

id probably concider a 4v swap if it came with computer/ harness. is o1 still a teskid?

no it's a WAP block. And realistically you could probably get a 2v built for cheaper than buy a cobra motor and harness.

I'd trust a book on modular 4.6's over someone who can't even spell "TEKSID" correctly. Directly from the book:

The WAP block on the left has been cast at Windsor Aluminum Plant since 2001. The Teksid block on the right was cast in Italy from 1993 to 1999. The WAP block shows the extensive ribbing that was
added to compensate for a thinner case section. The WAP block is 5 lbs lighter than the Teksid block on the right. The Teksid block is the strongest production aluminum case available.

You. High Horse. Off of it.

03 cobra crank - $300
03 cobra rods - $300
Mahle Pistons -$700-$1000
HP 292 Cams - $420
Manley Nextek Springs(not necessary w/ HP 292's) -$300

Call it a day after that. trust me, if you're stripping the short block down anyway like I did, might as well go forged. Hell if cams are too much just wait on those too. Cams are easy to swap out, internals... not so much. If you know how to do a little port work, might as well work the heads a little bit too.

but then to do the work properly, you'll need quite a few gaskets which nickel and dime you (head changing kit was $139 alone last I looked), arp head studs, and about $1000 worth of machine work - overbore, torque plate line hone, balance crank, hot tank, valve job, etc. unless you plan on ordering stock bore pistons and just dropping it all in and hoping it works.

This is very true and I shouldn't have neglected to mention it. But the machine work and install of all my parts into my shortblock was $800. Granted yes all of the new bolts, gaskets, etc. really started to add up, way i figure it is I'd rather have the car down slightly longer to have a bullet proof short block than throw it back together with the OEM crap.

You must be quoting Sean Hyland's book, which is best used as a coaster or might be better used for you to roll up and shove it up your hindquarters. Since you know so much about modular blocks, do you know the easiest way to distinguish a WAP block and a teksid is? Well if you did, you would know the teksid has square grids in the intake valley while the WAP block has diamond shaped grids.. Now do me a favor since I would have to get off my high horse to see, but what type of grids do you see in this picture?

Ok well we all need to chill out here, People who post what they read in a PUBLISHED book ARE NOT going to be punished for bad tech. The date of when Teksids and Waps were put in cobras is kind of a grey area. I have a LATE production and EARLY production teksids and you can definatly tell the difference. The late production was suppose to come out of a 99 cobe.

Take it easy and chill out.

What does it matter that it's a PUBLISHED book? I can write a book about what its like to have big ass titties, but that doesnt mean I know what the hell i'm talking about, does it?

If its published by a major company, written by a MAJOR player in the Modular community and sold in mainstream retail outlets, most people would accept the information being presented as factual. I'm nothere to discuss and pick apart the book as 100% true or not. I'm simply saying dint be a dick if someone is using a book for a reference. If they are presenting bad tech and are simply spreading " E Myths" that's fine, but if its from a book that they have no control over as good/bad info, but simply conveying the info, don't be a dick.

End debate.
