Yep. Having no cats is hurting you. Not to mention being an auto convertable.

Well around town all I get is 15mpg but I took it down to Calif last summer & got 25mpg both ways...& I didn't baby it.

Now the son's 04 Mach 1 gets 26 all the time & a high of 28mpg once or twice...in town you CAN make it go down to 15 also but that is by having LOTS of fun! Usually 18-20 in town...Plus he has almost 100HP more than me! ...LOL, unfair!

The longer you can hold the car at one speed and one rpm the gas milage gets great! The computer mends it out pretty straight. I went to Michican from Kentucky and got 25 mpg both ways in my '95 Crown Vic (4.6l FRPP shorties, X-pipe, cut offs, and 4.10 gears with a 5 spd). That has been the best milage I have ever got.
Driving around local, maybe 15/16 mpg. I would say updating all the sensors and vacume hoses to new original would have a great improvement. But changing the MAS out for a new one has a dramatic effect on gas mpg, if the one you have is bad. The computer will not tell you if it's bad.
Sometimes cleaning the MAF sensor works, you could try that. Tricky process though, I don't have a link and have seen "how to" articles on the subject. I'm sure someone will chime in on it.

Hope my babbling helped out!

No. Cats don't control how much fuel your injectors put in... Old wise tale.

Your engine isn't being restricted by your cats any longer so you i'm sure you noticed the quick rev and idle hang (decay rate). Since your car is breathing better you are driving it harder. It's that simple. If you think your driving habits haven't changed have a someone else drive your car for a tank of gas and compare. If anything you may need new hot side 02's and a tune. I am full bolt on and I get 25+mpg with a really good tune.

On the freeway I get around 350-400 miles out of a tank of gas. (mods in sig)
In the city, probably somewhere around 18-20...don't know for sure. I've never really clocked it.

You guy's getting 15 mpg with bolt on car's... It's tune up time, new plug's, wires, fuel filter, pcv, and Ford 02's New fluids everywhere would help too.

It doesn't have anything to do with being catless, and unless your idea of "having fun" is bouncing off the rev limiter for 50 seconds at a time, it's not that either. These car's are old now, no if's, and's, or but's about it, time for maintence.

my car is in 100% running condition, full synthetic fluids through out, new plugs, wires, filters etc etc. my car is not a DD, it does not get driven like a DD. the only time i drive my car is when i feal like driving WOT everywhere. hence why i get 200miles to a tank :santa_evil:

I'm getting 13 or 14 regularly. Driving slow, and doing the speedlimit, and light acceleration. I guess time for new plugs, wires and a fuel filter :)
