My Car Is Bent! *Updated*

So he is the story, one day I was backing out of my friends driveway and I bottomed the front end of the car out. It was a very big bump. Anyways I did not think it did anything until I got under the car to change the oil and this is what I found. I need as much thought and advice I can get on what to do. I also would like to know how much this affects the integrity of the car. I noticed no change in how the car drives at all. Here are the pictures.

I actually was backing out fairly slow, thats why I cant believe it did that much damage.

Take a hammer (big one) and straighten it out as much as you can...

Looks like you caught something (Curb?) as you were backing out...

Best bet is probably to have a body shop take a peek at it. Perhaps we've got somebody on the board who is qualified to give you an opinion.

That could probably be pulled a bit on a frame machine, or of course just cut off and a new one installed.

Does it affect the appearance of the car? Does everything still line up?

Everthing lines up for the most part except where the bumper connects but you cant tell unless you look under the car. This what going to be my project car so either need to get it fixed I guess or sell it down the road.

What did you bend exactly? The bottom of my bumper is messed up like that too but other than that i can't really see what you're talking about.

dayummmm, I agree about taking it to a body shop. You may have stressed metal that is not easily seen

Damn you did a good number. I agree i would take it to a body shop and see what they think. I have done similiar things in the past to other cars and you start thinking WTF how in the heck.

i agree, it does look like the core support hooked on something. i think you should use a BFH and gently persuade it back into place. be sure to put another hammer behind as a back up. anything that could have been bent is fwd of the suspension. has the rad moved any when looking from the top,down. you could take it to the body shop and they'll tell you exactly if it can be fixed or replaced, and then do it yourself

it looks like you slighty bent a lower rad mount...my car was kinda like that when I bought it cuz it was lowered 2 inches :BangHead: I'd just try beating it back into shape with the hammer first and inspect everything. Make sure the rad's not cracked or anything. If you can straighten it out like that, you should be ok. That's what I did.

i dont think BFH and gently persuade can be used in the same sentence....

thats one of things that i wouldnt feel comfortable working on. take it to a shop IMO

First thing I may just call the insurance company and see if they will raise my rates for claiming that. If not then maybe I can get some money out of it.

They are right off Martin Way past Denny's and past O Blarneys they aer a good shop did up my neighbors jeep pretty good. And they give a military discount as well.

Apparently all that whole piece is just a radiator support and the total repair is going to be only $500. All they would have to do is pull the radiator and put the new support in. I am going to get a quote from a couple other places though.

Mines a little bent. My race cars was in a V from people tugging on it towing it around. Had a couple other cars that were all F'd up. I wouldn't worry about it. If everything mounts up decent then it's not a priority. Mines been been on the passenger side corner for over a year, and even longer lol.

Just pound it back man. Use block of wood and lower the car or pound it back with wood against it. That won't do any damage to the car. I used to work at the body shop for a while and i also had 91 that had core support problem.

It will be a quite bit of work to change out the core support. Just pound it back and make it straight as you can and you will be fine.
