So i made a turn onto my road and I'm leaning on the skinny pedal and all of a sudden pop, and the motor dies. coast to the side of the road merely 100yds from the house. got a tow to the house and found the rotor had fallen apart. replaced it and noticed the shaft on the dizzy has a bunch of play in it. crap!!! sooo, is anyone using the summit dizzy or had any problems with any aftermarket dizzys? any budget upgrade recommended.

Ive heard from alot of peaple around, and on this site that the stock motocraft dizzy is a very good piece. I havnt used a summit
brand dizzy, but I have used several other summit brand parts, and I havent had a problem with any of them. (that uncludes ign.
coil, throttle bodies, etc.)

Stock distributors rule.

Like Rob said, people make tons of power with them. A guy in Tucson I know made 1033 rwhp with a stock distributor. My friend Trent made 725 rwhp with a stock distributor. My friend Jay made over 900 rwhp with a stock distributor. There's nothing to them. Save your money.

Most of them from AutoZone etc are usually rebuilt unless they started carrying brand new stuff..

You can rebuild yours if you want.

I know the pip can be replaced, but my bushings are shot.

The ford once is actually fairly expensive (i think in the range of around 300). I work for ford and the availability of those distributors in motorcraft is hard to find to begin with. I just picked up a cardone reman from auto supply. Works great has a warranty to.
