Congratulations on your new hood bro! :eek:ccasion14:
You can't beat free and people normally pay alot of money for
a decent hood. Are you using hood pins?

If you don't know, that's an HO Fibertrends 3.5" RR hood. Looks like a first mold production but why in the heck did they cut out all the support? It's missing all of the bracing....

What ever you do DON'T expect a show quality finish that will last anything longer than the first 65mph trip on the hwy. YOu might as well spray that thing with a rattle can.

Yes I'll be using hood pins. Also I plan on doing some fiberglass work under the hood. Thanks for the heads up guys! I mean hey its a free hood!

Win,

Yeah I've been trying to scoop up whatever I can. There are some Explorer intakes around here that are going for cheap. Its tough not to buy them, lol!

I wonder if you could remove the supports from a stock hood and attach them, with some work. They'd obviously need a crap ton of work considering they're meant for a stock hood, but its an idea.

Yeah...after wasting a shit ton of PPG Concept Black i finally got a decent finish on my HO Fibertrends hood.
Had to put like 3 coats of laquer primer to get it not to fish-eye like a mofo.

Mine doesnt have any bracing either though??? Never had any issues...

I'm not real worried about the bracing. I just flat blacked mine and am going to get the pins installed. I dont expect much. So there wont be much disappointment if something goes wrong. Its very rigid the way it is. So we'll see.

you could always add some fiberglass bracing inside of it. Soak some rope in resin and then lay it on there. Clean the area first but a few of those and I might say its ok....

Since the move I cant find my resin. I found the mat. Its aggravating, and my wife is on this we dont have money kick. So everything is under the microscope. If I find the resin. I'll lay some bracing. If not it'll wait until I do find the resin.

Not enough to worry about normally but.... here we are. I dont really want to get into it about the wife. Its love and hate at the same time. Like I said. I'm not worried about the hood holding up. If I find the resin before mounting the hood I'll brace it some. If not it'll come off and I'll do it when I find the resin.
