My 351 had no chance of clearing the stock hood in my ride. No matter, 3" Cobra R hood looks right at home on this body style just like a 3" cowl on a fox!

Wow , even with the new k member it didnt drop it enought to clear? Really hoping I can get one to tuck under my hood. I'm tring like hell to leave the exterior as stock looking as possible. Well aside from under the hood I want it all to look stock. Pop my hood tho and it will glow like the holy grail lol. If it can't be polished , it will be chromed.

With a low profile intake elbow and drop engine mounts you have a better chance with your fox than us SN guys.

You have me worried now lol

Yea you'll need a hood . The cobra hood is even taller then stock and there's still no chance of it clearing . You need drop mounts and to space the k member down 1" and it might work

Update

i have a black TFS-R intake to replace the red Edelbrock intake. That alone should help out. Since I have the top of the engine taken apart, I've scrubbed and sanded the problem areas. I'm going to hit it with a self-etching primer and paint it myself. Ideal, nah. Practical? Sure.. Hope to have progress pictures soon.

I'm also going to modify some fox valve covers to fit. Thanks Paul for the inspiration.

I can sell you my chromed TFS-R upper if you want. I have about a grand into it, and would sell it for waaaay cheaper than that... especially since I know you'd actually use it.

it is a thing of beauty.

I've been preoccupied with returning the car to service and have turned a "blind eye" to the crusty alternator and various other problem areas. Goddamn, I have to have something to do this winter...

Sooooooooo it's been a few years now and I'm ready to paint my valve covers. Thinking about painting them and the alternator this color:

That could be a cool color but I would recomend powder for both of those. Paint is just to easy to chip and can get messed up with spills on it. I had both my valve covers and the alt done and could not have been happier with the finish both in look and durability. Its a little less fun working in a tight engine bay when you are worried about your tools hitting your finished parts but when it happens you will be happy you did the powder coat in instead.

cost I am sure will vary but its worth it in the long run IMO.

Im a fan of powder under the hood.

I did my whole engine and valve covers in acrylic urethane single stage and it has all held up pretty good for what its worth!

ttocs & hondarocks61: You're right, polished bits and powder coating is sweet!! Those wire looms are gorgeous, Scott!! I don't know if I want to go that far, I'm really after something functional and sedate. I moved away from the red intake and the shiny valve covers are going next.

you could go all whippy on your engine bay too

I don't think I have the willpower to have such a clean engine bay!!
