96 GT Vert here...

I want to make some initial mods but I want to do it myself and I have ZERO experience. :confused1:

Thoughts - Maybe cat back exhaust upgrade? Maybe PI intake swap?

What would you recommend as a good rookie, first project that would yield worthy results. By the way, the cold air intake is already done.

Thanks so much for your help! :eek:ccasion14:

I would either do a short throw shifter or exhaust... I don't see why you couldn't do the whole exhaust, its pretty straight forward.

and if you do a short throw shifter, go with mgw and don't look back... 95% of people on here will agree.

Just pick up a catback and start there. It's fairly easily, not one of those things that can completely cripple the car

Yea easy mods are the exhaust and gears and shifter. If your a beginner you cant swap the heads without some significant tools and will need some experience to set up gears correctly.

Good luck.

Catback is a necessity, first thing I did on all my mustangs. Nothing worse then a quiet GT.

Wheels were always next on my list

I agree with got5.0 mgw short throw. Youll never look back. oh and exhaust. i dunno how hard headers are to install on 4.6 but on the 5.0 its extremely easy so id go all the way. headers o/r h, x or prochamber mid and a catback of your choice. you'll be really happy with the throws and her new roar.

He probably cant do the whole exhaust as a beginer you often have to heat up the old bolts just to get them off. Would you let a newb go underneath your car with an open flame?

I didn't think about heating them cuz I got lucky on my beast she didn't give me an issue at all. Totally true I don't even trust myself with an open flame under her. I didn't know you had to drop the k to get the headers in. Eff that lol.
