I do not like the aftermarket radio in my 94 gt, so I bought a factory mach radio cassette player. I removed the aftermarket radio and on the aftermarket harness there wires crimped for the speakers that run to the back speakers. From the factory, where do these speakers wires connect to? Also there are two connectors (black and gray) disconnected on the right side. I'm pretty sure it is for the factory radio. This silver box, is it the mach amp or receiver?

The two connectors disconnected, What are the functions of these connectors?

check out page 2 of my cardomain page and it shows a little about what you have. That is the factory amp/cross-over for the front speakers, you can pull it if you want as that space is great for other modules(sat radio for ex). What kind of radio are you installing and any future plans to expand? There are plenty of options to work with depending on what you want.

Do you have the link for you cardomain page? I'm istalling the factory mach radio, cassette player. I'm not big into audio stuff and I have no plans to upgrade. The factory stuff is good enough for me. Do the speaker wires connect to the factory amp? If so where on the amp are the connections at for the speaker wires?

I think I got this post mixed up as with another one as I thought you were replacing the stock deck. Is the rear mach enclosure still intact and hanging from the rear deck in the trunk?

Ok so you see the hrns's that are atached to the inside pass side of the radio area(black/grey)? those are the inputs/outputs for the factory amps. The speaker wires that have been added will not be used for the mach radio, but it means that someone ran wire to their more then likely new speakers. Stick your head in the trunk and tell me what you see. If the factory speakers are not still in there, with the factory amps, unfortunatly your mach radio will be little more then a paper weight...

Honest opinion, you may find it worlds easier to replace it with an aftermarket deck that you do like

Decent aftermarket will be better then OEM every time anyway in terms of features and of course sound quality

The wires to the speakers are black and the speakers says Boston on the bottom and not MACH. I did not get my mach radio yet in the mail, but if I do plug in the factory mach radio will I at least get sound in the front speakers?

I do have the factory amp for the front speakers but where are the factory amps located for the rear speakers?

the are located on a large plastic enclosure that is mounted to the bottom of the rear package tray. There are two, one on each end and the enclosure was for the woofers.

I looked and the rear amps are not there. So I'm going to buy the rear amps and rear speakers at a junk yard. How does all of this connect? I know the rear left and right speakers connects to their own amp. How does the amps connect to the head unit? Is there one main harness that connects both rear amps to the stereo head unit?

if you look at the bottom of the package tray hopefully there is a hrns in there. If not and they removed it you will be in for more trouble.

Now I have to laugh though that you are going to take our a really nice set of speakers( I love boston acustic, great sounding) to replace with fords premium system. I guess I can understand if you are just wanting to keep the car completely stock but otherwise I would not be expecting to gain any sound from it... The mach system was a good stereo at the time but now 20 yrs later it has certainly shown its age.

Thanks, I will see if the harness is there, I hope it is. I like to keep the factory stuff. The mach sound system is good enough for me. I got my mach radio today and I plugged it in and I have sound from the front speakers. It is slightly faint and not loud at all, and lacks bass and treble. The volumn level has to be full in order to hear the music. So once I get the rear amps with the rear speakers it should then all work. On the back of the radio player I have 3 connectors left. The one on the left looks like a ground connector, does that need to be connected? The one in the middle I have a connector for it but there is a top right and bottom connector, what connectors are those for? Are those for the rear amps?

I think that ground pin is for the front amp, which sounds like you may have a problem with if the output if faint. Half way up and you should be able to more then hear teh tweeters playing up front. Do you know if the front speakers are stock? I would check that before you hook up the amps or you could blow them. If you go to the WTB section of the classifieds I think hands has a rear enclosure and amp rack for sale.

yes, the factory speakers are stock. That ground pin where on the front amp does it connect to? Or can I just use any metal for a ground? Does the light sound faint have anything to do with the top right and bottom connectors shown in my previous pic?

the lack of sound means your amp is not working but I dunno why. actually I just remember that pin was for the cd/slave unit that went under it so they were grounded at the same point.

Check to make sure all your fuses are inserted and are good. Don't bother with the manual just start pulling and checkin and you will save time. IF there is a missing fuse look up what it is for, its rating and replace it.

yes, I did check the fuses under the hood and they are all good. I was looking at the front amp under the radio and I can't see if there are any fuses on it. I will have to remove the amp and see if there are any fuses.

there are not any on the amp. Do you have a volt meter or test light? Check the remote output on the deck, should be 5-6v.
