So my car is at a body shop getting repaired right now and i figured when i get it back i'm gonna paint my mirrors to match.

I'll be sanding them, hitting them with primer, paint, and some clear.
My question is, which paint should i get if i want to get a near-perfect match?

I've still got the factory paint job.

& which brand of primer/clear should i get? Duplicolor?

Hey Bro, you can'r color match paint with a spray can. Its impossible.

Plus your car has swirl marks, So even if you paint the mirrors they are gonna look off because the swirl marks on your car defuse the light making the color appear different to the eye.

I actually just thought of the idea of painting them since its in the shop.

They would charge me an assload though since labor over there is $92/hour and i just blew $500 on fixing a small dent. I'll give them a call though.
And Greg, i'll hopefully get the swirl marks out over fall when i give the car the detailing attention it deserves. It doesn't have to be perfect or anything, just a damn close match.

dont wait till fall to give it the detailing attention, Do it now!!!!

Reasons to detail NOW:

1. Car looks MUCH better and grabs more attention.
2. People think your car is new.
3. It protects your investment
4. ITS CHEAP!!! It only costs 17cents in product to detail a car start to finish doing every step.
5. It will make you smile more when you see your car.

Wut?

The reason i'm waiting til fall is so i have a bit more money to spend on it. Where do i find 17 cent products to remove swirls at?

Yeah bro, When you use detailing products correctly, it only costs 17 cents to detail EVERY part of the car doing EVERY step.

I can make a bottle of polish do like 80 cars because I know how to use the products correctly and not waste it.

Bah, your car is black, they already match

I did mine in laser red using spray cans and they matched/held up good but nothing close to the job the body shop did since they used the exact same paint on the mirrors as they did on the car

Ask the shop. For the few drops of paint it takes I cant imagine them raping you on the price

Yeah just grab a black can if you're gonna do it yourself, not worth getting a can of your paint code mixed up just for black imo.

If the body shop already has your paint mixed up...just go there, pull off your mirrors...do the prep yourself, and ask them to spray them when they're doing your other parts. Shouldn't cost much at all.

I had mine shot after a minor fender bender. If you ask them ahead of time its not a big deal and they would probably throw it in for next to nothing if anything at all after a $500 dent repair if they were painting it.

$200 for both mirrors from the shop my car is at is the best deal they could give me.

The car is gloss black, the mirrors and wiper cowl are flat black.

So my question still stands... what brand will give the closest match from a spray can?

Jesus Christ! In that case, prep them WELL, prime them, sand them to 600 wet, spray 2-3 coats of black, then 2-3 coats of clear. As far as rattle cans go, I've had the best luck with Duplicolor lacquer...although I'm spoiled, I work in a model shop and have access to a full spray booth and DuPont paint mixing station :p

Get paint matched to exact OEM color, I bought mine from www.paintscratch.com when I did them the first time, as you can see it was pretty damn close to OEM color once I cleared them
