Need help with boost

Can I get some advice regarding boost. Im fairly confident that I will have enough fuel for about 500-525rwhp. I live with a 5500-6500ft DA (so I wont be making as much power as everyone else at the same boost level). I have a 3.2 pulley now. I want to make as close to 500rwhp as possible. What size pulley should I run to get me there?

What's your fuel setup consist of? 500rwhp through an auto and at those high of a DA is a hell of an animal

You might get a better response if you post up what exactly your set up is.

Those are some fairly big numbers. I think going to a local tuner/speed shop would be the most benefit to you.

Especially through an auto. Guys don't realize how much power 500+ rwhp is through an automatic.

Honestly, I think you'll be lucky to hit 500rwhp.

I run a pretty wild setup and barely see 600rwhp and thats with 20psi, meth injection, stage 3 PI heads, custom blower cams, 8 rib conversion, port matched Edelbrock manifold, a 1000hp fuel system setup....

if that gives you an idea

I honestly wouldn't get too caught up on dyno #'s with an auto. I have seen 550rwhp auto setups hit 9's in the 1/4 with the right suspension/weight setup

I think Im going to run either a 3.0 or 2.8 to get as much boost as I can and use Torco to boost the octane until I can afford meth.....then run meth until I can do the heads/cams and lower the boost lol.

But in all honesty, Im more concerned with ET's than power numbers. The auto will suck up more power but will move out for what it has.

YOure right on the money with the dyno ##'s on an auto... converter slip has a bunch to do with it. Im guessing you would benefit more from meth injection, possibly some TFS heads down the road or a 4v head swap ($$$ lol) and some more cubes, as im guessing youre at 4.6 or close to right now. There are so many options with a mod motor now that you could go a number of ways and have a killer combo.


Or you could go to the track and tune the hell out of the combo and see what you get to, then add power and re tune as needed. thats my vote.


I dont like the idea of running octane booster, its hard to get a good mix I think... Id rather run the tank almost empty and run 110 race gas, or convert to E85 if you can. Meth injection is another viable option as ya know...

I don't like it either but my builder swears by it. He's been using it for years and knows the product in-depth. I spent A LOT of money on this build and simply will not accept anything under 400rwhp, period. Im going to run a 3.0 pulley and Torco until I get around to getting a meth kit.

Just a heads up you wont pick up a ton of power with meth. It's more of a safety tool. Technically, unless your tuner messes with your timing and tuning you won't pick up any power. If you really want some power, throw a nice 50 shot on there.

Yeah I know. But upping the boost with only 91 available in a place that sees 100+ deg everyday during the summer.....Im worried about detonating.

If your concern is safety than you can go with either meth or i/c or both to help with detonation. It seemed you were more set on power gains

LOL Im not ricer, I know that higher octane doesn't produce power. Im running a 4-core A2A intercooler but Im still worried about detonation. We have some of the worst DA's in the country. If you were to ask 19/20 people if there were mountains in Texas, they'd say no. Not a lot of people know that the Rockies end in Texas. High elevation, thin air, and the usual Texas heat. Im running MMR 4340 forged pistons and I would really like to not melt them.

What do you mean youre not a ricer? I never said you were. Many people that don't run meth don't understand how it works or its purpose. They expect to install the system and magically make 80-100hp appear. The only real solutions are to run meth or torco or some sort of octane booster...
