I put a new alt about 2 weeks ago the car started to die and when driving the abs light would come no lights would go dim and gauges would go haywire so I changed the alt now its doing the same thing I was woundering if anybody else has had the same problem if so what was it and what did you do to fix it

I'd go to Home Depot or something similar and get a cheap multimeter id you don't have one and start checking wires and fuses to make sure you don't have a draw

I would first check the battery to engine and engine to chassis grounds. The terminals shoulkd be clean and corrosion free. Also, strip back about 1/2" of the cable sheathing to see if there is hidden corrosion. The exposed wire strands should be bright and shiny. Every engine sensor requires these grounds to be good to function properly.

Did you know for sure the old Alternator was bad? Where did you buy the Alternator from? If you bought it from a Autozone, Advanced Auto Parts, Oreilly's, etc. you could possibly have gotten another bad Alternator. I have had that happen before. Took 3 Alternators before I got a good one....
