My stock intake is cracked. I have in my hands an explorer upper and lower. The manifold has the internal EGR hole. Is this ok? Will it work with my 95 gt if using an elbow adaptor? I am jsut confused if I need to block this or something or if it's correct for my car and will properly work with egr valve when the valve is installed on an elbow adapter.

^ Does it look like this? I put mine together with a 93 Cobra gasket set and had zero issues. I did, however, have the EGR deleted. I don't think you'll have any issues, but let me look further into this before you take my word for it.

Well I ended up not being able to use it. I just couldn't afford to drop the cash right now for the elbo and TB and things and I am way pressed for time. But I do appreciate the help. It's my understanding that we DO have to use a ceartin gasket (maybe the 93 cobra like stated above) to block the lower EGR port. Our factory lower is similar to a Fox intake and has that internal EGR. Our UPPER however has almost like a plug or something in that hole that blocks that internal EGR from operating. Just for future reference.

White95 can you confirm the cobra gaskets will block off that internal EGR hole please? Looks like I may do this after all!

Upon further investigation, I've determined that the '93 Cobra, '95 Cobra and 5.0 explorer all use the same gasket set. Youll be just fine bro.

Nope,

The final run of explorers had a different intake upper and lower. They had a air gap between the upper and lower where the EGR hole is. Hard to explain, but I didnt even notice it till I bought it from the junkyard.

The only non-EGR hole lower ive seen. Dont think it has a IAT cast boss also.

I can't use the gaskets with the open hole tho. Wouldn't that allow the crank case gases to go straight into the intake charge? I am confused. Out stock lower has this hole also. BUT our stock upper the hole is plugged because we have external egr. This is killing me.

Maybe I need to look at the intake and figure out where the air from that passage comes out. Maybe I can plug it up externally.

it comes out at the throttle body just below it. I guess the gasket for the elbow would cover it but not sure the gaskey would hold up since there is normally an egr plate there

Yeah I am on corral as well. It's always hard to get one answer on this question as it seems there are a few ways to do this. I got the explorer gasket kit today. Was planning to pickup a felpro 1250 tmrw only for the small EGR block offs it contains. the go where the EGR holes are in the gaskets that mate the heads to the lower manifold. I was thinking this would be the best Idea bc you would never be getting that extra hot gas/air getting into the manifold in the first place.

It seemed to me like if I leave this open and use the elbow to stop it it will only add excess heat to the entire intake tract basically. The TB gasket thats still on the explorer intake now is metal and shows sign of the hot air burning it coming from the EGR outlet there. I was thinking the felpro 1250 would be best way to completely get rid of this. Sucks tho that you have to drop 30 bucks for an entire kit jsut for those two plugs. See the pics in this thread http://forums.corral.net/forums/5-0...250-install-smog-legal-install-arp-165-a.html I appreciate you giving your opinion. If I am going to see no excess heat or loss of power jsut keeping the hole open I won't bother with even getting the 1250.
