Couple issues with V at the moment guys.. Some of you know i'm preparing to swap for a 5spd within the end of the year. No big deal work load isn't the problem. I already have 4.10s and i do a large amount of driving on the interstate to get to school (i live on the opposite side of the city). Riding along, the windows down, even when its hot, the car sits on R/M.. on the temp gauge, i role up the windows and turn max ac on, and it immediately gets passed L and i can read NORMAL just fine. Makes me worry alot about it.. Run about 2500-2600 on the interstate.. and thats about 35 miles a day, not including from the interstate to the house. With it so hot it causes alot of trouble so hopefully when it cools down the car won't do it again.

Quick side note: I took out the billet grill and stuck the pony back in, so it's not that

Anywho, 5 speed swap. 4.10s are supposed to be teh win with a 5spd racing wise, which i'd be ready for it, but at the same time i'm thinking it'll be to much gear on the interstate, considering the rpm's i already run with an auto. Be a wise decision to swap to a 3.73 ring and pinion? Am I the only one that experiences over heating fairly quickly after turning on my ac? Just seems odd, the rpm's cant do it, considering it sits at R/M if i drive without AC and then i turn ac on the car about explodes..

I don't know why your running so hot, but you won't tach much higher with the 5 speed, and the 4.10's are not the cause as I ran with them forever and never had them cause over heating.

4.10's is the best choice, stick with them. Now one question though, is your car a 96? if so that might be the resson why. Let me know and ps. avatar = :rockyou:

yeah man, if yours is a 96...they run warm. voidfinger is right. the cooling fans are weak, low cfm output. i just installed a 180 t-stat, meziere electric water pump, fluidyne aluminum radiator and some red-line water wetter. that should do just about right. my car ran hot as hell w/ the a/c on in stop and go traffic out here in vegas. do what i did if you got the funds. if not just get a 97+ fan assy off e-bay or something. let us know. cool

yep, it's your radiator. Mine would hit the L before I deceide to rebuild everything.

your best bet is a bigger radiator.
the mod runs hot, and the stock radiator is maybe 1" thick.
there's pix of it in my build thread.

I had the exact same issue. A 97 stang radiator fan and all aluminum 2 row radiator plus 180 degree thermostat and the highest temp I have seen in my car has been the last 8 days. My car is getting to barely the M. It has been 103+ last 8 days. Supposed to be just as hot tomorrow too.

I figured it was my radiator being to small. It is a 98 though. If i can hunt me down a bigger one i'll drop it in when i do the PI intake swap. I fixed a couple things on it and it runs cooler, but still to hot for me
