Need some new springs! This freakin thing looks terrible

My 94 GT has the stock ride height. As I'm sure you all know, it looks pretty bad that way. So I am gonna lower it. I already got some good tokico blue monotube shocks which seem to have a very good reputation. And I got a camber kit. But now I need the springs! I've decided that I want the car to sit about 1.5 inches lower. I would go 2", but I heard that's pushing it. Heard you need even more parts if you're gonna do that. So which springs should I buy, that will have decent ride quality, but will lower the car 1.5"? I looked at eibach but they say they only lower 1.1" That isn't really enough for me. Maybe some of yall can post me a pic or two of your car, and what springs you are using?

I found these, and they lower 1.5". But I don't know if they're any good or not.

What does specific rate mean? It worries me that those springs are so much cheaper than all the rest. Just look at the eibachs they're $230.

I can only say good things about H&R SuperSports. They advertise 1.75/1.6 drop but it's my favorite of all the springs for our cars.

Specific rate means that the compression is linear throughout. Let's say some springs require 500 pounds of pressure to compress them one inch, and an additional 500 pounds to compress 2 inches. Therefore "linearly" firm.

Progressive rate means the rate changes. It may start out as 400 pounds to compress the first inch, but by the time you are compressing the second inch it may require an additional 600 to compress the second inch. Therefore "progressively" firmer.

Make sense? I just made up those numbers, but take a look at each springs specs to learn about them. In both cases the total compression of 2 inches required 1000 pounds of pressure, you just took different paths to get there. Progressive springs feel less harsh while the linear/specific springs give a more rigid, but predictable, feel. The H&R Super Sports are progressive all around. I personally run linear fronts and progressive rears.

I've decided that's what I'm looking for. Something around 1.75" drop. After reading up, 1.5" just doesn't look quite low enough for me. Too much of that awful wheel gap remains in the front. Especially with the eibach prokits. Are those the H&R spings, in the car in you sig? If so that looks like the amount of drop that I want. And how is the ride quality? Bout like stock?

they are the same spring rate as stock.

If that's what you have, and it all feels the same I'll prolly do that. your car sits perfect.

did you do caster camber and bump steer? and I want a rake, did you do iso's in or out and where. I'm thinking one or no iso's up front both in the back for a rake.

Yes I'm running H&R SS, love them. The ride quality is pretty good when paired with some struts. It's been so long since my car had stock springs I really don't remember, but they feel good and they don't beat you up. I'd assume it's firmer than stock but like I said it's not over the top.

I don't have many pics that show the drop well...

Thank you for the kind words my friend. It's always nice for other people to appreciate what you've done, I must thank Steve-Oh and his car as it was my inspiration.

H&R super sports ftw!! I have them on my GT, my sig needs to be updated. They ride amazing and when you hit bumps it doesn't rattle the cabin like Ford Racing C-Springs did. The spring rate was extremely stiff, good for drag racing though which I barely did.

Go to suspension sub-forum, and find the thread where everyone post side pictures of their springs, this will give you a general idea on how the car sits.

I have super stiff specific rate springs in my car and its pretty much slammed. I wouldn't recommend. Them though because it rides like a can of fuck and scrapes everywhere. Definitely go with progressives. The sve springs will be perfect if you want stock ride quality and handling while being a little lower.

I hear H&R SS drop it low. You could probably get it lower by not putting in ISO's. I think you could do those Steeda X2 ball joints and people say it brings you down an extra 1/2 inch. But I heard they don't last long, so if you daily drive the car it may not be worth it.
