This part runs from the engine under the intake into the firewall. I know its a hose to the heater core, but it doesnt seem like anyone knows what Im talking about when I ask around at shops. The part with the duct tape (yes, duct tape) has a hole in it, causing the car to overheat within about 2 miles from home. My question is, can I just replace the hose with the hole in it or do I have to replace the whole part? I have conveniently taken pictures and circled in white the part in question.

What actually happened to mine is I blew the hose apart from pressure and realized that metal clip that they use is not easily removed.

Get a hacksaw, saw it off, buy enough hosing and hose clamps to replace it and there you go.

While you are under the hood you may want to spend a few minutes cleaning that intake, it looks like it is almost white
