I have a 1995 Mustang GT that I needed a new hood for for my 410 Windsor I built. I measured that with the deck height, and the height of my intake I needed a 3.5" cowl hood. I looked at choices and since everyone has a Cobra R hood I went with this:
116_(820x492).jpg

Here is the ad for the hood:
Features screened rear air vents. Finished underside liner can be painted for show quality appearance. Height of lift: 3-1/2" Specs: base of cowl width = 45", top of cowl width = 33". Bolts on utilizing OEM hood hinges, latch and hardware.
https://www.cervinis.com/product.aspx?car=1&part=116

So perfect, it is a 3.5" cowl hood and will look sick on my car. Then I get the hood in, put it on my car/motor, and this is what I get:

Clearly NOT a 3.5" cowl hood. It is only about 1-1.5" taller than my stock hood!!!!!!!!

Holy FALSE ADVERTISING!!! So I call Cervini's to return my hood. They give me an RA number, and tell me I have to find a way to ship the hood back on my own, and MY expense, AND I don't get my original shipping back! What the F*ck.

So now I'm out the $110 original shipping, plus the cost to ship it back, just to get my $495 back from them for THEIR FALSE ADVERTISING.

So I call to get shipping quotes,....UPS $282....Fed Ex....$244. I call back Cervini's and tell them there is no way in hell a trucking company is going to give me a decent rate because I don't ship in any volume like a business does. They finally give me the smallest bit of help and said they will ask their accounting dept on Monday (Mind you I have been trying to return this since Tuesday and get my money back) if they can ship it back to them on their normal account, and take that money off of my return to pay for the return shipping AND the manager is not even sure he can get that done.

Of course they are giving me this song and dance about how I should have called for measurements since I have a modded car......YOUR ####ING SITE SAYING 3.5" COWL HOOD IN BLACK AND ####ING WHITE WHY DO I NEED TO CALL AND CHECK! It says NOWHERE on their site that they measure the TOTAL height of the hood and not the added Cowl height like EVERYOTHER ####ING COMPANY DOES!

So now I'm going to be out $220ish best case (if they ship it back on their account) because a big name company like CERVINI'S AUTO DESIGN has false advertising on their site.

I used to think very highly of this company and their quality but I would never recommend them to my worse enemy and will continue to spread the bad word of their grossly poor "customer service".

Do not....I repeat, Do Not to business with this company.

man that sucks man! maybe just sell it and buy another. Id rather lose a little money and sell to another stanger than waste more money shipping it back to them.

You know the 3.5" is how tall the cowl is, not how much underhood space there is, right? Not defending cervinis or anything, but if you need that much clearance, a huge 4-6" cowl is probably best for you...

You should have asked them where they measure from, I've seen identical Cobra R hoods listed as 1.5" and 3.5" so where they measure from makes all the difference in the world. That does suck though, I'd keep calling until they take it back and give you all the money you had to spend.

You can tell by the pics though that it's not gonna be 3.5" taller than the stock hood.

That sucks man...definitely don't waste your money shipping it back, just sell it. That hood is becoming more popular, I want one.

drop mounts will only lower the motor about 3/4" and I need more than that as you can see from the pics.
JonBeast, do you want to buy it? it's perfect condition and is a sexy hood

I think he will run into the same problem I would have, 300+ miles and ~6 hour drive each way to Buffalo

Dude, Cervini's didn't do anything wrong. You made assumptions about given measurements and hood clearance for that huge intake of yours. If you would've posted up on here that you were putting a TFS Box intake on a Windsor, I could've easily told you it wouldn't fit under a 3.5" hood. The onus is on YOU to ensure that the hood you're ordering fits, not Cervini's. They're saying it's a 3.5" cowl hood, and you didn't even bother to call to find out how those measurements are taken, how they affect underhood clearance, and so on. Cervini's makes great products (although I've never bought any) and has been doing this a long time. Your lack of research is not their fault.

Give me a break.

Paul.

a) it will fit under a real 3.5" cowl
b)i agree they make a great product, have been around a long time and have a great rep.
c)because of B i had no reason to question their ad
d)every other company lists a height as the added height over stock
e) cervini's lists nowhere, adn gives no reason to believe they measure different, and if no other company measure different why would I have any reason to question it?

Their ad was not clear, their listing is mis-leading, and their handling of the situation has been very poor for a company that has such a great product and reputation.

I'm with paul man, As I said, they listed height is for how HIGH the cowl is, NOT how much space is under the hood. HUGE HUGE difference. As I said, you should have gone with a 4-6" cowl instead.

well im with you bro a 3.5 inch cowl is 3.5 effin inches off the deck of the hood not 1.5, not even close to what they state. Second if you get a shirt at a store thats too small you return it for a FULL refund or a different size.I know that I wear a XL shirt and 36x34 jeans, now pardon me if im crazy but if I got a XL and it seems like a XS should I not complain? Oh and I never go to a fitting room to try on a shirt, if its an XL it better damn well fit. They could have sent you a full refund, its poor customer service on their part. I can tell you right now i would be so pist i would send that hood through their window n say keep it.
