I figure if you gonna install cams might as well get some aftermarket cams esp if you're paying to get them install :dontknow: not to mention more performance and that muscle car sound :thumbsup:
well the reason i got these is cuz i only paid 32 bucks for them and they have never been turned in the heads. they r the frpp cams that come in the frpp heads and plus im on the way of doing the pi swap anyway, so i dont think i did to bad for $32. what you guys think. :thumbsup:
not bad. comparing the specs of the PI cams to the stage 1 cams out there they are pretty close.
don't forget you need to pick up the cam bolts too before you start the swap.
sure you can go w/ larger cams but face it, the newest NPI motor is 10yrs old and you know you'll need springs, etc when you go w/ some of the custom cams. just because they have a low or similar lift doesn't take into account they have increased the ramp rate and other variables.

man, you got an awesome deal. mine were $70 shipped. you'll definitely notice a difference with them.
yea pretty cheap rite. my car has around 70k on it now. a retired vet. in FL had it, he had 4 cars and never drove it. so i got it for 5k. u still think i need springs? the specs on the cams are .543 and .547. do anyone know the pecs of the non pi cams? i also have another set of the same cams ill let go for 100 shipped if anyone is interested. brand new also.

ok, i knew there were clearance issues but did not know if it was w/ the casting or w/ the way the hardware was on the head.
what about Piston to valve clearance if you go to a cam over say .540 lift like most of the PI stage 2 cams are? since you can run the .531 exhaust lift PI cams i'm assuming the clearance issues are on the intake side up top but how about the rest of it. more or less curious about the workings of the 4.6 at this point.

PI aftermarket cams start at .550 on both sides.
NPI heads will smack the retainer into the guide over .535 (to be safe)
Any spring made for either head will fit the other.

I think there is some confusion over which cams you have. Do they have a part number on them? I know you said FRPP heads/cams but I immediately thought SVO heads, but that might not be the case.
I have an ad in the for sale section w/ pictures of the part numbers on my PI cams that you can reference. Mine are stock PI cams from stock replacement heads, they will work in stock nPi heads.
