Considering upgrading my radio in our Cobra since the aftermarket unit is about 8 years old. To give you an idea what it will be paired with, we currently have it installed with an JL Audio 500/5 amp that drives a set of MB Quart seperates up front and the rear in addition to a JL Audio 10" in a Custom Enclosure that is NOT ported.

I am looking for suggestions from you about actual experience, here are the requirements in the Head Unit:

* Must be single DIN
* Must have Iphone connectivity
* Must Operate reasonably fast

Not absoutely neccesary but would also like

* Blue Tooth
* HD Radio

We have looked at a few models and read a ton of reviews, but are really looking for your experience..... Let's hear what you have to say!

My buddy just got one and its sick. It doesn't play cd's which I am hesitant about but if you run everything off your Ipod or Iphone you don't use cd's anyway...

That is one we looked at, the KDX-995 however does have a CD slot and 5 rather than 3 band EQ......

I played with it extensively after I installed it for him. I liked it alot except for the missing CD player. if the 995 has the CD player, I would buy it myself if I was in the market.

I have a Kenwood KDC, I can't recall the number off the top of my head but it's discontinued anyway...does everything you listed (although I don't believe the latest generation iPhone is compatible) so I would think current Kenwood models would fit the bill.

I like alpine as well, but I have always felt that Kenwood has made the strongest overall units. I have one in my Exploder now and plan on putting one in the stang

I have had an opportunity to play with some of the Kenwood units, I agree, they are easier to operate, and so far offer the best features, just not real happy with the 'feel' - they seem 'plastic' or 'cheap' - but certainly perform unlike their feel...... I guess I am just to damn picky....

Found an interesting unit last night that was made by Pioneer, it seems to have some operational bugs to work out.....

Still on the search
