I was on the road home last night and got pulled over b/c the police officer said I was doing 77 in a 65, I had the car set on 70 and was using cruise control the entire time. Could the new gauge cluster be reading off? It was a completely flat road with no hills (mississippi). Whats the best way to fix this?

Maybe you have a bigger tire on the back, or maybe upgraded gears, throwing off the speedo?

I do have bigger wheels and tires on the back but I didn't think it would make the speedo be off that much.. Can I just re-adjust it through one of those tuners or do I have to get different speedo gears?

I think if you can do the gear, much cheaper and I think only 96-up can use a tuner for the tire sizes to fix the speedo. Not sure on that so dont qoute me.

the rear tire and wheel size has everything to do with it...... I think I had a buddy prove a while back that his speedo was off, and had it corrected and had the ticket thrown out.

I don't think there are any tuners that will help this.

Do I just call the courthouse and tell them my speedo is off due to larger rear tires and wheels and they will take it off? I may just get a read of how much over the actual speed the speedo is and remember it instead of fixing it.

the gear ratio would have to be smaller for it to make the speedo read slower.

I have 4.10s and it reads 70 when im actually doing 60.

Vehicle speed sensor or the instrument cluster connector (C1) could be bad.

The VSS is located inside the transmission and it is a small magent-sensor (much like an ABS sensor)

what tranny do you have? T5? T45? or an auto?
