Ok got my GTS, and it has a few kinks that needs to be sorted out.

Problem: First thing is overheating. I know our sensors can be a bit iffy. My old sixer had to get the O2 sensor replaced and had similar problem..Heat gauge shows that engine is overheating. I blast heat, it goes down to normal a bit, but still on the upper half of the gauge. Is this the sensor or something more? I popped hood, and it was hot, but i am not mechanically savvy enough to differentiate between normal heat and overheating :BangHead:

Second Problem (should be in suspension, sue me): The right rear tire makes a squealing. I am sure its just something with the brake pad..being hopeful. Will take the tire off tomorrow and see the situation.. Also, i think might be related..at like 60MPH+ the steering wheel gets pretty shaky and idk if it has to do with tire.. rotation in order.

Third: The car has O/R h pipe, and magnaflow tips, and when i get into the higher RPMs (had to test the car), it kinda get sa little choppy, almost like popping. I figured it was just the exhaust, can get a video this weekend..

Other than that i love the car, and will def post up pics once i give it a good detail :headbang:

pretty sure the brakes are prolly warn... check the pads and rotors... dunno about overheating though, did you check coolant? it can't hurt.

Yeah i will check coolant. And the pads are new(er). I checked em when i purchased car. I am hoping something is just in there and shouldnt be ..

If I was you, I'd go ahead and just start flushing all the fluids and replacing them that way you're starting with a clean slate. Its what I like to do when I get a new car. It gets you familiar with the car and you're not stuck wondering how many miles the oil has on it and if the coolant mixture is good and all that nonsense.

Me too, flush all fluids and get a new Tsat and a tune up wouldn't hurt. Rotors could be warped from over tightening of the lug nuts and giving the shimmy on the highway.

1) Ive been through every type of overheating issue you cant think of, so heres a check list:

new themostadt
flush radiator (dont forget to burp!!!)
New hoses (yes, after 10 years, new ones helped)
New fan (make sure its engaging, and at both speeds, mine wouldnt engage into 2nd, and my husbands caught fire (same part number)
New radiator (my aluminum radiator is guaranteed not to overheat an engine, I lost all of my coolant, and didnt even know because of how cool the gauge showed!)
New gauge/wiring (fog light cracked and got moisture, when the light was on, the car would overheat, but didnt. also a bad connection led to it making my oil pressure go up too)

2) Forgive me if I repeat what others have said:

brake rotors
wheel needs to be rebalanced
car needs to be aligned
new bushing(s)
Ive heard of people blaming the tire itself, but I cant see that making a squeaking noise unless you have two separate issues)

3) car may be backfiring? maybe?

I am pretty sure overheating before was because i needed my oil changed, still showing its runnin hot so temp gauges, maybe O2 sensor. maybe just my gauges..

But the squeal is breaking my balls. I am pretty sure its the rotor. There is a spot that its rubbing with the tire off you can clearly see, and here if you manually turn the rotor. Question now is to get new rotor or not..it isnt jeapordizing safety but my poor ears :( Especially since my radio is a gigantic mess!!! aka doesnt work

also flushed my radiator fluid, it was dirtay and cleaned the K&N filter..it was dirty as phuck haha. The rotor just looks like it got rust on it and the guy slapped new pads so it doesnt quite mesh, especially likely because he put like 4k miles on it since 06

The stock temp guage is sh!t, buy a $15 autozone guage. My Sunpro guage is within 3 degrees.

There are radiator caps that have gauges on them that tell you how hot the coolant temp is. This is what your factory gauges read. This would be a quick trouble shoot to see if your gauges are wrong or not, without having to cut and wire in aftermarket gauges (unless you just want them). Once you know if your gauge is accurate we can troubleshoot further. I would definitely had gotten a new thermostat though since they can stick. A fail safe thermostat would ensure that coolant always flows, should it fail.

Why do you think theres an o2 problem? An o2 problem would throw a code, typically on these cars the code means the sensors bad. But if the car thinks its running lean or rich, it will adjust the fuel amount, which messes with your air mixture, and other such mechanical nonsense, but I really dont think its an 02 problem because if the sensor was bad, youd be running rich or lean simply because the computer told it to.

Looks like the GTS found a loving home with a great new owner. The condition of the rotors, air filter, and oil shows the type of neglect and abuse this poor cars has received. Everything you do, may not fix the main issue youre after, but help with another that is or will occur. Here are some additional thing that I suggest doing considering the cars poor history: new spark plugs and spark plug wires, and sea foam

As for the brakes, I would put some miles on the car, if the car is safe anyway. If the noise doesnt go away the rotor can be resurfaced. But its such a PITA to remove and install yourself that you may as well upgrade if your budget allows. Ae you sure the pads are new? because thin pads take longer to compress. Also, if its too thin, you could be grinding metal to metal which not only produces such a noise, but can damage your rim. Also check the brake fluid. Either theres air in there, you need more fluid, or the guy never changed it, because who really does, especially if you dont change your oil or air filter.

^ Thanks there is a lot of good info in that. Yeah once i get all of the current problems i was planning on upgrading spark plugs and wires from looking at engine. The brakes could be a bunch of things and i am going to get into it and see what it is this weekend. The sound started as just when i pressed brakes, to all the time except for when i break, now it is all the time and worse when i break.

and the overheating is a little past my mechanical knowledge... but i will definitely use some of your advice

Glad to see you're finally in a V8. My first real mustang after my sixer was a 96 GTS/248a, I really miss the light weight of the car. If you ever need another pair of eyes to check it out or need some work done let me know, I can either help you out and show you along or atleast send you in the right direction as far as a shop goes. Shoot me a text or call, I'll be in NJ this weekend but I'll be in or around Bel air tonight....I could always swing by after work to check it out today if your free. I'll pm u my cell.
