How many of y'all have changed your rack n pinion? I'm staying with power steering and wondering what's with the 15:1 ratio firm valving rack?

Any opinions

Its just a quicker turn. Instead of 4 turns side to side , its like 3.3 turns. 15:1 is quick ratio and your stock one is either 18:1 or 20:1. You wont benefit much from swapping racks unless yours is worn out. Since you have pwr steering.

I am swapping to a manual rack with 15:1 ratio. it will be harder to turn but turn quicker. So I might go to a 20:1 ratio rack.

Actually stock power rack is 15.1:1 ratio. Firmer valving just means that you are not getting as much assist from the power steering pump, so you end up with stiffer steering feel.

I had my earlier numbers mixxed up with the manual racks. sorry.

All V6, GT, Cobras 85 to 04 power racks are 15:1.

The manual racks are easier to turn the higher the ratio, they just turn slower.

also, if you are replacing your rack, replace your rack bushings with maximum motorsports aluminum ones... no reason not to.
