my buddies step dad buys a new one every year

i like c5 and back, but this new c6 thing, they were definitely trying to copy the viper.
and i dont like the z06, it shoots pistons out the cylinder walls because the block is the same as it was in the 50's
boared and stroked out from a 265 all the way to 7 liters.
which is why vettes are so light.

my other friends dad, biggest chevy lover on the planet.
bought a ford gt over the z06 for that reason.

bang for your buck yes. but anything over a z51 really is not reliable.
however, currently, the 08 z51 convertible my buddies step dad has, is probably the fastest car ive driven, he threw me the keys the first time i rode in it.

done with my vette ranting.

motor trend for one
they openly admit the reason the zr1 didnt take the 7 liter was because the cylinder walls were too thin to withstand boost of the super charger.
take a look at a z06 motor, you will see the block is the same as that 265 from the fifties.

and, theres a prick at my school whos dad owns a z06 that shot a piston out the cylinder wall, had to replace hood and motor.

lots of experience
i dont like corvettes so i find all the facts i can to bash them.

This is utter nonsense. The stadard SBC and LSx blocks are different in virtually every way.

Im not even gonna reply to the nonsense....

Im gonna go ahead and say that the shooting of a piston out of the cylinder wall has a story behind it

Theres no way in hell the block is the same

Sorry man. You're just plain wrong. Flat out, unequivocally, wrong.

Standard SBC block:

LS1 block:

They share NONE of the same architecture. None. Zero.

you have to remember the 50 plus years of boaring and stroking

ask any chevy person
they will tell you that if they know what they are talking about

Back on topic... Good looking Vette. I'd like to have one some day and not all old guys are driving them now a days, I see a lot of younger guys getting them. Insurance is so much cheaper for a Vette compared to a mustang also, thanks to them older guys.

the only noticable similarites are they both have 4 big holes on each side and are kinda sorta the same rough shape. But so is any other V8

longtubes, x pipe, and catback.. it is by far one of the best sounding cars i have ever heard..

I'm going to have to ask you to provide, specifically, point-by-point your information if you really want to pursue this. I can tell you without question that you are totally wrong, but if you really want to pursue you can do so in another thread. Otherwise, keep the nonsense out of this thread.

C5s are solid performance cars. I'm not a fan of a few bits here and there, but it's better than a mustang in pretty much every single way. Heads, Cam and intake manifold, and those cars put down a serious amount of power. The car itself is very balanced, and drives very well at the track.

you cant really compare a Vette to a mustang. they just arnt in the same class. Vettes are in the same class as Porsche or TVR not that you already know that.

i think the only time you can compare them is when they are race cars, but then when its a race car is pretty much only the body that looks the same as the production car,

Do they have 4 wheels? Are they used for racing? Can they put down a timed lap around the track? Seems like if the answer is yes for any of those, then yes I can compare them.

Speaking of track, when are you showing up? Seriously, I've sent at least 3 invites this year alone. Speed Trial schedule for next year is up. First event is gonna be in the second week of February, and it's SOW. Roll out. I'll be instructing.

I need to get out to the track. This last semester i made the mistake of taking too many classes. Then i have had all this BS issues with my car i want fixed.

i am installing my 03' cobra rack next week and once Darin@westendalignment sets up my car i will be good to go.

sorry about the "nonsense" guys.
i still think im right.
but im stubborn.

but yea, get off the subject.

i also choose not to compare mustangs and vettes because they are not in the same class. the vette puts out so much power and weighs nothing.
however mustangs are still my favorite ha.
