Wsup guys I recently just purchased a 1997 Mustang GT aztec gold....bought it from a grandpa who bought it back in 97 brand new...Got it with 88,777 miles on it. So basically it was grandpa owned and never abused :TY:. ... So yes Im loving it, it is compeltely stock, besides some chamber 2 flows....I just threw some tints on it, and now want to start some planning for more power :boink:

So yeah I was thinking of getting a supercharger, but then thought i maybe want to go N/A.....If I get every bolt on possible like: x pipe, cold airintake, straight pipes/,plenum throttle body, chipped, 3.73 gears, pulleys, and a tune, and some good drag radials, would that be capable of mid 13's?

Or should I save up for a kennebelle twin screw supercharger, and a better rear end....

I know this year mustang wasnt the fastest, our stock time is 15 flat?..but I know i have lotz of options for mods..some advice would be good

What would you guys do if you had 5k to invest....

thanks!!...im loving the stang lots, I am originally an import guy(well i still am got a 89 crx si with engine swap etc), but I love muscle cars and glad tha i finally bought one.... :coolsmiley:

i will try to get pics up asap

Congrats on the new mustang!

You can pull 13's with bolt-ons, though it would be a waste of money in my book (HP gains vs Cost). If you're wanting to go any faster than that, you need to take your 5k and build a Nitrous or Forced Induction setup. If you read up on this site you'll find the best combo for you to get close to your desired ET, I'm sure. Now get some pics up!

Greetings from a fellow Aztec Gold owner!!

You might want to start with PI intake/cams- I think that's the single biggest thing I've learned here so far, you can do bolt-ons but for the dollar-performance ratio it's hard to beat this as the first big thing. Best of all you don't really have to search much for this- numerous stickys on top of this very forum and a new post about it at least once a week if not once a day.

If it hasn't received one in a while, start with a good tune-up- plugs, filters, trans/rear end fluid, so on so forth. No sense modding a car that isn't 100% healthy to begin with! Virtually every dollar I've spent on my 97 has been mechanical resto/tune-up save the PI intake and exhaust.

Enjoy your rare color- our cars are two of only 1,135 produced in this color and it was only available in 1997. Are you 5-speed or auto?

Again welcome aboard, have fun with the car they are a blast!

what he said. u may get a grand total of 10 hp from the intake plenum and tb and thats around 700 bucks worth of stuff. go with the pi swap. inace u didnt know what it is its basically the intake manifold, cam and head swap out of a newer 99-04 gt. worth the money, thats what im doing next. but congrats on getting your new stang get some pics up!

Bolt on 13's would cost way more than it's worth IMO. If you want to go N/A, do the PI swap with the right suspension and it would be worth more.

Cool lookin forward to seeing it! I've had mine for 6 months and have yet to see another my color on the road. It might never happen...

Sounds like you're definitely on the right track as far as where to start. Let us know how things go!
