Hey guys just wondering if anyone knows if this quick release http://www.summitracing.com/parts/GRT-3022/ will bolt right up to our steering column and what dia. the stock steering wheel is. Thanks in advanced.

haha that would be funny, like a rider carries his helmet, you could carry your steering wheel, the're 2 reasons I want it, 1: it is a pain in the ass getting in and out of my car with my Kirkey seat in there because of the steering wheel 2: I am tired of looking at my stock steering wheel minus the airbag, wires are ugly...

what old style car was it that you could take the steering wheel with you to prevent people from steelingit? My parents had an old friend of theirs that I could remember him telling me when I was young that he had one and use to carry it everywhere with him.
I am sure it was just as much a badge of honor like was to carry your pullout stereo in the 80s. Some things end for a reason I guess.....

personally for quick release I'd only roll with MOMO. I dunno the quality of grants products but MOMO has never failed me.
Stock wheel is like 15"-16" I believe. I put at 10" wheel in my old racecar, being that I'm 6'6" with the stock steering wheel my knees would hit, the 10" wheel cleared EASY and was so much easier to turn.

So will it work or not? I mean the quick disconnect. I would really like one of these in my race car. I am 6'3" and not a small guy by any stretch of the imagination. We took out the factory wheel and put a smaller Grant in it, for two reasons, one to remove the airbag, and two for weight. Being able to remove it would make it so much easier to climb in over the roll bar and get back out as well. Let me know if you figure anything out on it.

my car is a long way from just drag race track car only. i'm 6'3 and once i get that fixed back seat in there ima want to have a nice wheel in it, but won't walk around with it, deff helps as theft device. and yeah i've climbed in many caged cars not too easy being tall. i had a guy close me into a ferrari with a cage in it so i could go on twisties at 9,000 rpms the whole time. didn't mind being stuffed into that thing. thanks for the wheel feedback so far

well I just ordered the grant quick release last night and at 13.5" steering wheel, I'm 6'1" and according to what I read, I don't need a grant hub to mount the quick release, It mounts right to the spline of the steering column, unfortunately the quick release is on back order until the 10th, but I will let you guys know how it works as soon as I get it installed in my car.

I got the quick release and steering wheel installed on my car... I haven't taken pictures yet, I'll do it soon, it's just way to hot outside and don't feel like going through the trouble of letting the lift down. Anyway, I just want to say it was not easy to get it installed, our cars have a weird ass shape on the steering column, and the quick release is made for a 40 spline. So I used a hole saw to cut out the center of the stock steering wheel, then put it in the lethe and turned it down to an OD of .900, then took what came with the quick release and opened it up to an ID of .8995, pressed the two together and welded it... after that, it was as easy as bolting it onto the column, I'll take pictures soon and post them up.

which one did you buy? the Momo was bolt in. took me 20 minutes with the momo hub installation.
