No, its never been tuned, so the comp is still stock.

I think I'll Flush my trans fluid and change the filter this weekend. I doubt the trans is destroyed, but I know it could use the flush. I've run trannys past the 150k mark and never once touched them and they were fine. But if it is for some crazy reason it is, a manual transmission swap may be in my future.

So $400 bucks isn't that bad for a tune? Anyone ever use Sniper tuning software? It sells for just under $400 and I can retune whenever I choose once I buy it. This guy charges $150/hr for any tuning done after the initial tune, so I worry about plans for the future.

Anyhow, I'm set to hit the dyno this Friday after I get off work, so I'll post some numbers up after I get that done.

well its a differant story on a mustang thats probably been beat most of its life.

you should change the fluid like ever 50k if you want it to last.

LoL, idk how people can keep the same fluids in the car that long. I'm always upgrading or working on something that requires me to change the fluids. My car has got fresh coolant, oil, rear and tranny fluid at least twice in the last 2000k miles :hammer:

I had my mustang since 20k miles and i've beat the living piss outa it and the tranny had the same fluid in it till the day it died... at 170k miles. And it died b/c of back pressure from a dyno brake...

170k is not a lot of miles. :dunno:

if you changes the fluid a couple times it would last twice as long...I bet it would still be going

I think you should all wait until it's effed up, then flush it, then say to everyone who will listen that flushing it killed it, and we can just perpetuate that whole myth

Well, I picked this mustang up @ 106k miles and I've only put 6k on it. I've been meaning to do it since I bought it, just keep finding reasons to put it off. As for my Mustangs history, I highly doubt it was abused much before I bought it, its in way to good of condition. Anyway, the factory recommends a flush at 70k for normal use, so I know I'm well over, but better late than never. I certainly advocate flushing your fluid atleast at the recommended intervolse, but I've yet to kill a tranny cause it wasn't done.

Dude, walk out side, pop your hood, and pull the damn tranny dipstick out...Ive told you to do this like 5 times.

Its not that hard.

And better late then never is not true with transmissions. if it starts slipping and you flush it thats when it destroys the tranny.

The gritty, old fluid is what keeps the thing working when its that messed up.

If it start's slipping it's already destroyed. Sometimes you can save them for awhile, if it's slipping into 3rd or 4rth, but really is time for a rebuild
