I bought new valve covers from my work since we sell ford racing parts. I picked these out, i really like the wrinkle black look so i painted the svo motorsport intake wrinkle black. Its hard to see the wrinkles on the intake but it turned out pretty good. These valve covers are about three quarters of a inch taller then the cobra aluminum ones that were on the car when i got it. These look much better and havent been jb welded ( previous owner cracked them in diff places due to overtightening them and when i replaced the gaskets it would puke oil on the pass side). The wrinkle black paint worked extremely well even though i was skeptical at first. Applied three coats in a cross hatch pattern and it was shiny, so i wasnt sure sure how it would turn out. Went to the garage that morning and was amazed at how wrinkled the paint took. Let me know what you guys think!

Nice man!

I say paint the BBK intake too and swap out those blue couplers for some black ones...it'll tie everything together nicely.

I would but that intake is garbage anyways. I'll get a JLT here soon and put that in. The manifold was pretty haggard looking before so i figured this would look better. In the pics it kind of looks like that rhino liner stuff because the wrinkles are so small but in person you can really see it. Thanks for the compliments guys!

Just my opinion, but I would go in there and try to scrap the paint out of the lettering on the intake and leave it bare metal. Tie in better with the valve covers than thrying to paint on top of that wrinkle finish. Just my two cents. I'd paint the throttle body too and mask off the tops of the fins too and leave them bare. Don't want everything to completely fade away into wrinkly blackness.

I was thinking about painting the letters a silver metallic

Looks good man. I just got done painting the Plenum and eaton for my swap. I chose Hammertone black which is sort of like wrinkle. Turned out nice. I always tell myself that if I sell my 98 and get another 5.0 its getting fabbed valve covers.

just take some sand paper and a sanding block and sand down the high points of the paint back down to the bare aluminum on the plate. Use a low grit and be carefull to only go back-forth in one direction and you will leave it with a brushed finish which on the wrinkle black should pop prety well.
