Well shortblock is done. It time to pull the other engine out to rob the heads and timing cover. Car should be back together in the next couple of weeks or so. Didnt expect to have a built shortblock so quick this year.

Thanks yeah I really hope it responds well to the blower. Im just happy to not need to worry about a rod shooting through the block this year lol

Its called a "Big Red" - http://www.homedepot.com/p/Big-Red-1-250-lb-Engine-Stand-T25671/100595181

It works very well. The design gives it a bit more stability.

Finally got my shop cleaned up lastnight. I was pretty tired after assembling the engine, I just left my tools rags and a mess of oil and coolant all over the floor lol. Anyway last night I got the rest of the engine assembled. Iowa got hit with some arctic blast weather so it was hard to stay motivated when it was this cold. I should be getting the trans bolted up and engine tossed in here shortly.

Yes although this time I'm going to keep the passenger side longtube off along with the starter. It makes the install go a bit smoother especially when I'm by myself.

You think I could do it that way without messing up a freshly painted engine bay? It would really be nice to be able to put the trans on outside of the car

Do you have a aftermarket K-member? If you have longtubes and you keep both of them on it, it will be tough to not rub on the frame while installing. If you do it the way I am you should have no problem getting it in there without hitting anything. With my aftermarket K-member I am able to easily install my headers with the engine in the car so its not a big deal for me.

Edit: Having a load leveler for your hoist will help alot aswell.

Yeah I plan to get a load leveler. And I have the stock k-member and shorty headers. I'll probably try it from the top like you
