cant get a good seal in the maf tube and making my car run shitty. After my 2nd ever nitrous pass at greer dragway a couple weeks ago I had a little nitrous backfire. not sure if I sprayed too early or what I did exactly when it happened(besides not having any kind of window switch), but anyways, it went pop pop pop lol. when I came back around I looked under the hood (thankfully) it just blew the clips off of the box/housing/whatever its called where the maf is inside on the stock maf tube where it connects to the other piece where the airfilter is held. and pretty much I was just wondering if its the same on the v6 cause they are way easier to find at the pull a part than a 5.0 sn95. ive tried searching but I honestly don't know what that piece is called but in pics the v6 looked close. thanks in advance.

ps. bone stock 95 vert to the paper air filter with tools and all my stuff in the trunk. with just exhaust. ran a 8.902 at 81 mph in the 1/8th on a ghetto 100 shot wet not even killing it. no gears or anything. this was right before the accident lol and I didn't have a pressure gauge for the bottle so it was just room temp. thought that was decent for my setup. think I could've went a good bit quicker too.

I don't think they are the same, but don't know 100%. You could look and see if the air filter element is the same for the v6/v8. Should be able to find a CAI for your 5.0, after a nitrous backfire strong enough to blow up your airbox, I'd probably check to make sure your MAF is good. Hope you didn't burn it up.

Not sure why, I've run a few different nitrous setups on 5.0s and haven't had an issue. Typically a backfire like you're describing happens because fuel pools in your intake and can ignite if your timing is too aggressive when you spray. Did you have the correct jets for fuel/nitrous? Did you use at least a WOT switch?

nx 52n 33f. and no sadly not. I know dumb of me but it was just a kit my friend had laying around and I wanted to see what the car would do. and I know before I even had nitrous, one just a simple grommet for the wires to the maf in that element had popped out some and was making the car pull significantly less harder. I guess because of unmetered air. I really don't see how any air would get past the maf in my situation, considering the piece that broke is BEFORE the maf. but I know these cars are very touchy when it comes to the maf.
I probably touched the switch a little early switching gears cause I was shooting for 8.70s lol. and I will check out that maf. would there be any obvious signs if it was burnt up?

You just gotta be a WOT, if you didn't have a WOT switch, it was probably when you let off with the juice/fuel flowin. Bad things can happen.

Rich nailed it on the head ... If ur a lousy power shifter get a wot switch ... I've had mine on the button on the shifter and wot switch and still don't have a window switch and have been messing with the sauce for years with notta single nitrous backfire to date ...

Well I think the mafs are different, so its likely the housing is different too.
You could always just get one from the junk yard and try? Shouldnt cost you more than the lint in your pocket.

and what kind of times should I be running in a bone stock heavy vert on spray? I didn't think 8.90 was tooo bad for a first ever pass spraying a 100 shot. and this was launching soft on crap 245s and not spraying as much of 1st gear. and the 2.73s suck! BUT I had like no wheel spin whatsoever.

That's not bad ... I run 7.20's in the 1/8th on the bottle but I'm shooting for 6.70-6.90's next season in the 1/8th our local track is 1/4 mile... That's respectable for sure

that's whats up. on the last of my first bottle which i know the pressure was wayyy down cause i had sprayed it a good bit, i was on the highway and a brand new ss Camaro jumped me and i had my car running right next to him the whole time. and that was from like 60 mph these gears suck up top. well really all over lol but i could tell the guy was surprised. he got off at the next exit so we couldn't hit them again.

piece went on and all but car still feels like it doesn't pull as hard through the rpms. think I might have damaged the maf sensor with the backfire. will be getting a wot switch if I keep the nitrous installed

have you tried cleaning your MAF?
