Like, reused ones from the factory heads? That's a bad move... I wouldn't reuse any head bolt. It's cheap insurance to buy some ARP's... For $40.00 or so, it's silly not to buy some new ones...

Yes, I'm sure they'll be fine given that OEM shortblocks have been taking a 100 shot for over a dozen years now.

That being said, if you've got it torn down anyway - why not just put ARP bolts in?

it's not torn down. I've been driving the car for some time now and think I'm ready to install the nitrous.

Do not use stock bolts or replacement stock bolts with aluminum heads!!! Thats a BIG NO!

The stock head bolt will "chew" into the aluminum head as you are torquing it down, and will not seal properly and damage the heads at the same time.

Get a set of ARP Head Bolts at least!

Stock head bolts or ARP?

ARP Head Bolts wont do what the stock bolts do. Since there is a washer utilized with the ARP head Bolts

I used the suggested washers with moly lube between the bolt and head.....Recommended by AFR.

Times TWO

Use washers and moly lube....other wise, the head of the bolt will gall the aluminum of the heads.
